Is there some kind of big trolling inside joke on the internet that I'm missing. :patrice:

This album is ass, and it's obviously ass. But I must be missing the inside joke about trolling people into thinking it's actually good.

A safe album with great songs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> an innovative, interesting, ground breaking, revolutionary album in which several songs aren't even good.

Innovative, interesting, ground breaking, and revolutionary sounds better to me when I'm not told "this is what it's supposed to be". That type of stuff isn't required to make a quality song or album. It's extra. It enhances the listening experience. For example, hearing a song for the first time and nodding your head while thinking "I don't know what this is, but it sounds dope. I'm a run that back" vs. "I'm not really feeling this, but it's different. Maybe it needs more listens". The former is when the "innovation, interesting, ground breaking, revolutionary" enhances the experience, but it isn't the focus. The lattter is when "innovative, interesting, ground breaking, and revolutionary" is the focus and the result is a forced listen.

This would be a valid criticism if every song on the album wasn't grade A piff.

dont know about classic, but do think people will have a change of opinion about the album in a couple years...cause this shyt rides...from the moment you put it in, till it ends, this shyt rides....ye kills it lyrically and the beats knock...shyt has been getting burn from me since it dropped..

also: I dont think it has nothing to do with 'growing on' people cause that's bullshyt...nothing 'grows on' people...you either like something or you dont...the thing is many people have preconceived wants of what shyt should be, and when those aren't fulfilled, they automatically dislike whatever it is...it's not until after they've gotten over that entitled thinking, that they truly judge something for what it is...that's not saying everyone will change their mind about it, but a lot will...cause seriously, for people to call a cd that has 'blood on the leaves', 'guilt trip', 'new slaves', 'hold my liquor', and 'black skinheads' (even though the live version was better) on it wack, is hilarious to me....

on another note: this let's me know ye really has made it to that upper level in rap...that level where people dislike his shyt when it first comes out cause it's not what they wanted, but then later on they say shyt like 'it's not that bad' or 'it grew on me'...his big brother is the standard of that level of rap...

There is no trolling or joke. Why can't people just like the fukking album. Not everyone taste in music are the same. To some folks (like me) the album was dope from day one. On sight is fire. I'm in it, can't hold my liquor, bound 2, blood on the leaves, black skinhead all fukking dope cuts!! It's not his best lyrical but the sounds, the arrangements, the creative layout on the beats, songs start one way and end another. shyt is far ahead of its time. People will study it for how it's produced and mixed and mastered. Sonically it's one of the best albums I've heard.
