Not even being funny but what US cuisine isn't a remix or mash up of another culture's traditional dishes? I really enjoyed the food during my visits but it's all based on another kitchen/culture and westernized to fit the pallet of as many people as possible. Given, when y'all give it the once over it usually is for the better but I don't understand what authentic American cooking is when the country itself is a melting pot of European,African,Asian and Polynesian influences.

It's a uni house. I've seen even worst meals than that.

This is why my dad taught me how to cook. A lot of people come to uni where there mothers have cooked for them all the time. So they prepare stuff like this. Tbh I knew someone who would only eat beans and bread when he was 'cooking' for himself or use the microwave to cook food. Even though they had a perfectly working oven.

And this isn't a brit thing as their are plenty of food options to make nice meals, some people just don't care to make the effort.
