Also I think you're on to something with Stormzy being an industry plant @Uncle Grime. The Mobo win and interviews with Rosenberg are suspect, I'd be convinced Stormzy was a plant if Grime wasn't so peripheral in the UK music scene.

he deffo is signed but is getting treated like an "unsigned" artist, in a few months dont be surprised if u see him announce being signed to sony or them shytty labels wiley keeps signing to :skip:

i actually wouldnt mind stormzy if he had more GRIME work but i cant rate him, i like work rate when it comes to grime and al hes done is rap freestyles and drake covers, i mean i know he freestyle on 2 old grime beats but that aint cutting it, but yeah he is a plant, that shytty not that deep song keepts getting played on rinse fm back to back with his new song, deep programming

I think I'm being quite harsh on Skepta at the moment because he went from that tune he did with Kano (lololol) to bringing Grime back to catting Project Pat's flow with A$AP Nobody and it's just confusing. Still got hopes for the album tho.

theirs a pic of flatbush zombies and skepta floating around so a collabo might come, Meechy would probs kill skeppy on a riddim tho

Not debating that brodie.

I'm just saying radio sets were and are the best representation of Grime, not mixtape tunes. Mixtapes only really came about in '06 before that only a few man were doing the mixtape thing. Pirate radio was where you made a name for yourself.

And cool you grew up on Choong Family videos, I grew up on Channel U as well. But how you can post one of their videos as an example of Grime is mind boggling tbh

he should of posted crazy titch init, forgive him breh :whew:

Has Stormzy even done any radio sets? How is man getting on Jools Holland and getting free adidas creps by being independent lol.

Wonder if Skepta did really lock in with Kanye in the studio, shame it happened after All Day came out tbh because that is right up Skepta's street. Knowing Kanye he'll probably have Skepta on autotune over an acoustic Paul McCartney guitar or some shyt.

I don't disagree with this.

I agree with this.

You are being condescending but I'll ignore this. The song was "Injury Time", a posse cut with 10+ people on it. :dead: From somebody that seems to love pirate radio, I'd think you would appreciate it more.

They were a facet of the scene at one point, it isn't that difficult to understand.

i saw him and the square at boiler room and this fool only wanted to perform his two songs :dead: didnt even want to spray bars with the mandem :snoop:

Yeah I watched that set. Guys like Faultsz, Mez and Deejillz are much better and put more work in, but I doubt any of them will get the push he will get.

:stopitslime:

So 10 plus man on a track = Grime? Even thought it's clearly a Hip Hop tune. What does that tune have to do with pirate radio? Your logic is strange brodie.

Wait so Choong Family, a UK Hip Hop collective, who made Hip Hop, and were never in any way shape or form involved with Grime, were a facet of the scene?

:mjlol:

:mindblown:

They were a facet of Channel U, not Grime. You're getting it fukked up donny.

That isn't what I said.

Even thought it's clearly a Hip Hop tune.

This is a whole other conversation.

What does that tune have to do with pirate radio?

Re-read our exchange.

What genre would you classify Ghetto's music as?

I lurk on this shyt, thought I'd sign up because it's annoying when these threads pop up and people who probably werent even into Grime like that start giving these strange examples of Grime.

OP if you really want to be able to get Grime and hear it in it's purest form, you need to be listening to pirate radio sets from the early to mid 00's.

But tbh Grime aint a thing no more anymore though, black UK music goes through an identity crisis every 5 or so years, we should have just stuck with Grime as it was the realest musical representation of young black britons, but whatever.
I agree with this post 100%... I clicked on some of the songs that were posted and was like "that doesnt sound like Grime at all" but I'm not from the UK so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and let them cook lol

THIS is what I consider Grime

Where the fukk is my nikka Griminal at? :why:
