Many nikkas weren't on board with MLK and the Civil Rights movement, especially well-off blacks who feared a white backlash. They were just fine with the old system of Jim Crow and discrimination.
The 60s exposed a lot of cowards and c00ns, including many famous ones:scust:
Let the Coli tell it, we was all united and pro black before the "civil rights generation" allegedly sold us out. :sas1:

While I am certain your faith has been shaken by demonstrations against the Viet Nam war, I hope the actions of any one individual does not make you feel as Vice President Humphrey does, that Dr. King’s stand will hurt the civil rights movement. It would not be fair to the thousands of our Negro fighting men who are giving their lives because they believe, in most instances, that our Viet Nam stand is just.

:snoop: :pacspit:

“I can’t understand it. I have not taken part in any protests. Nor have I joined an organization fighting segregation. Why should they attack me? I’d just like to forget about the whole thing,” said Cole regarding his attack.

His comments prompted NAACP legal counsel Thurgood Marshall to consider him an “Uncle Tom.” NAACP members rejected Cole’s insistence on playing segregated shows and considered him a traitor. After years of berating, Cole would eventually join the Civil Rights Movement and was an active participant of the legendary 1963 March On Washington.

You know you're a bootlicker when Thurgood Marshall calls you a c00n. :dwillhuh:

Don't forget Sammy Davis Jr. tap-dancing for Nixon in the midst of his "southern strategy":mjlol:
Ray Charles too.:francis:
