UA has made huge strides in the apparel and clothing market. It has almost become the standard for sports 'gear'.
However, the profit margins for shoes is MUCH higher than it is for clothes. Especially basketball shoes- where you can con consumers into purchasing a new pair every year.
Which is why these companies will pay millions upon millions for shoe endorsements. One superstar athlete equates to almost 10 years of recurring revenue. But with shoes it all comes down to star power- and UA has very little of it. Curry & Spieth is very very very far away from Kobe/Bron/MJ/Tiger- even today.
