The ratio of Black women vs men in the building I'm in is grossly disproportionate. Beyond that even with the meetings I attend and conference calls, there's a noticeable lack of Black men vs women. I meet more Black women than men in my dealings, and even just going to lunch on my work days I see more Black women than men.

I don't think it's just my eyesight either considering statistics.

Black Women Awarded More Master’s Degrees Than Black Men | Thurgood Marshall College Fund

Black women are being awarded Master’s degrees at a significantly higher proportion than Black men at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), a 1990-2015 National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) shows.

In the 2015 academic year, the most recent data available, 3,869 master’s degrees were awarded to Black women compared to 1,545 Master’s awarded to Black Men, a ratio of approximately 5 to 2.

In the same academic year, 141,358 Black women were enrolled at HBCUs compared to 86,905 Black males, a ratio over 2 to 1.

Black women also earn doctorates at a higher proportion at HBCUs. In 2015, women were awarded 1,084 such degrees whereas Black men earned were awarded 492. A ratio very close to 2 to 1.

Brehs, this is a problem.

How many threads ya'll gonna make on this?

If you associate someones value with their job I guess it would be an issue. This occurs among all races now. Men as a whole dont' care for paper pushing jobs. Men like to build, make, and fix stuff so..... :yeshrug:

Compete with automation and/or start learning to hunt, fish, and farm again.. might as well since the complaints that men are poosee these days.

I mean... no shyt :dead:

However I disagree with your conclusion that this is a problem. Not everyone wants the same life.

I can declare that its a "problem" that engineering roles are devoid of women but whose to say its actually an issue or not?

Maybe women dont wanna be engineers.

Maybe men don't wanna work 9-5 and get masters degrees.

I make a fairly decent amount of money and I dont have my masters degree:yeshrug:

I promise i make more than the vast majority of the people you are referring to :yeshrug:

BA DOS Af pr
Unpopular, but likely true. However, there's still a wage gap between the potential earning power of an 'educated sista', vs a non educated brutha w/a skill, or a trade.

Also, educated or not, the Black female role in this white patriarchal society is subordinate -requiring the guidance, and leadership of a strong male role that isn't really present...yet; hence the current state of our(Ados) community.

OP is certainly right.

In my premed summer research program last year, there were only 4 black people out of 20 accepted and enrolled into the program. I was the only black male out of those four in it. The 3 black women were all Africans and one Haitian.

I ate through that whole summer. We all partnered up for our cancer project :whew:

All races of women are more educated than their male counterparts.

This hasn't always been the case and it is even worse for Black women...

Educated Black women are more likely to marry down than any other demographic of women...if they marry at all...

---------------------------------------------
BTW...

Black women been ahead of Black men since the 90s...and it's even increased moreso...

American DOS men are really really behind...

Get you an education brehs...

what does this(women obtaining more degrees and paper pushing jobs) have to do with leading, can you clarify?

People with Master's Degrees tend to be in supervisory or managerial positions. In other words, leadership positions. Or even put another way, positions where they lead other people.

But I'm sure you knew that already. :sas2:
