Asking your mom for a sandwich is “white” now.

@Rollie Forbes Is this what you want to do?

I just wish ya’ll would really say that your view of blackness, black culture, the black diaspora and black identity is limited at certain identifiers so we can move the conversation along instead of wrapping it in this weird shield of painting by shadows instead of asserting what you’re actually saying.

If you believe this, then just say Drake isn’t black and keep it moving. It’s easier that way. Just remember that we’re going to use your definition for a few other people too and I dont want to hear any complaints.

…but if “being black” is behavior…then we have some other uncomfortable conversations….if this is the route you want to go...
Never once did I say that asking for a sandwich makes a person white. I stopped reading after that incorrect first sentence.
Don't @ me if you're going to keep being loud and wrong.

What did you mean by this?

I meant that Whitney (the subject of this thread) is culturally Blacker than the unseasoned, swaggerless, no-soul-in-his-voice white boy who was whining to his mommy and friend in the video that I posted.
I’m black.
Congratulations. If that's the case, then you should understand our cultural nuances enough to comprehend my first post.
I’m asking why being a corny teenager doing a Canadian version of MTV Cribs for a youth TV show asking for a sandwich makes you “white"

Can you please elaborate?
You're stuck on the sandwich. Forget about that, and read my first answer (under Druski).
The culture? The culture of asking for sandwiches from your mother?
Black culture. Whether it's American Black culture, or Diasporan Black culture, we all have a certain flavor. Even biracial Black people like Bob Marley, Lenny Kravitz, and yes, J. Cole are/were tapped in to that frequcy. We have soul.
That guy in the video that I posted does not.

What makes Whitney “culturally blacker” than a guy with a black father?
Congratulations. If that's the case, then you should understand our cultural nuances enough to comprehend my first post.
Why does your concept of blackness not address identity but behaviors?

What does soul have to do with identity?

Is Drake black, or not?

I mean surely if this is normal behavior from a normal black man we most certainly will see several brothers come in this thread and testify to having this kind of language exchanged amongst their social circles during their upbringing correct?

I don't want to pile on with other posters and say that you're not Black. I'll take your word that you are. That being said, the people who understand our culture understood my post. If you notice, nobody else in this thread has had to ask what that video means.
WE get it.
I can explain to you why I posted it, but you'll still only think that I was referring to a young white boy who wanted a tuna sandwich. You won't grasp the underlying meaning. The rest of us do, though.

I’m from a city of black people who didn’t grow up in circumstances that they would have spoken like this until even after college.

A lot of the Issa Rae types didn’t become outwardly “pro black” until after college because they didn’t grow up around black people like that.

Again, I think you have a narrow conception of black people and presentations.

Is Drake black?

Whitney could descend from the Caucasus mountains eating a jar of mayonnaise, walking a yorkie, and wearing an "I Love Yakub" t-shirt with a custom MAGA hat, and she still won't be as white as this:

It's insane to say she could be an actual white MAGA racist and still still somehow be blacker than a mixed race black person that identifies as black.

you sound fukking insane

Did drake not have enough swagger to talk to his mom for you to think he’s not-black?
