They had three hood Classic Movies and a Cartoon and comic book. For me being a child of the 80's they definitely were apart of my childhood growing up. Yes they were mainstream and bubble gum but I have nothing but love for Kid N Play man. They sold some records too so it's not like they didn't have some hits either. So yeah they are unsung cause there Impact was pretty large when you look back and see how many media formats they had:

The Unsung was kind of weak though. They really kept it positive for the most part, and didn't delve too deep into Kid or Play's demons.

I think their movement and cultural impact warranted an Unsung, even though their window was short-lived. Musically, their most popular track is the battle (the only thing that people know the words to), followed by Rollin with Kid N' Play. Their careers were over by the time of House Party 3..and that was 94.

yea, theyre unsung because we're at the point where theres too many people walking around now that have no clue how huge they were in the late '80s & early '90s. and thats not short-lived fame either. thats 2 eras right there good brother.

and you know what? i'd say that mc hammer qualifies for an unsung in 2015. theres people on here that think he was a one-hit wonder.

That's crazy about Hammer, but I do think you're right. Its crazy that he blew up and is still known for that one song. When I think of Hammer though, I think of the Troop suit and Oaktown 357 in the back. I guess in the mainstream he was this one hit wonder. Cray.

i dont know why people are on here saying that their run was short-lived. they were poppin for a good 6 years at least and lasted thru 2 of the best eras ever.

as for the show feeling incomplete, they each had their own "life after" specials on tv-one 4-5 years ago. those are complimentary to the unsung special. you kinda have to watch them all together to get the full dish. check em out. they got more personal with play on "life after". iirc, i think they got more personal with kid on unsung.

they did an episode on daryl "chill" mitchell as well, and debuted it the same night as kid's joint. they dubbed that night "life after house party". i remember that. good times.

They deserved an UNSUNG. I mean besides the Fat Boys which hiphop group/duo had their own movies before rappers started creating their own films and companies. How many rappers have cartoon (hammer........and)?

They deserve it for helping to open doors for mainstream success for rappers to achieve all they do outside of music now (tv, movies, dolls, mainstream branding)

Plus Play is mad cool. He lives in Durham NC and I've met and chopped it up with him a few times in person and on FB. I am a little bias.
