was happy to see this on last night, they often seem like a semi forgotten 90's group - they even alluded to being 3rd fiddle when they were on. they're definitely in my top 5 girl groups from the 90's

1. tlc
2. swv
3-tie total and xscape
4. en vogue (they get downgraded a bit because their run wasn't as long and i was like 4/5/6 when they were at their peak so i was kinda tooooo young for them)

I watched it, very entertaining.

I think both Kandi and Tosha are both in the wrong and both probably acted like bytches, leading to this current stalemate.

I DID NOT know that they never sold less than platinum, though....that's a pretty huge accomplishment.

LOL at them changing their image in part because of Biggie's song "Dreams".

They definitely had another platinum album in them in the early 00's. Kandi wrote No Scrubs, Bills, Bills, Bills and There you go.

I like Total but they weren't seeing En Vogue. En Vogue had four members that could sing lead. They were a modern day throw back to them 60's girl groups.

yea, but total had more of an impact on me, en vogue was huge, but they were grown ass women and i was a young ass kid, other than just singing their songs, i wasn't making memories to them lol. when total dropped, i was in middle-high school, their albums were more integrated into my life at the time i was experiencing those things

it's actually not, going plat was pretty easy, you had to buy albums (or dub them) back then, but yea, kandi and tocha definitely seem to be most at fault. oh well

I'm probably the same age as you. I experienced the same things but I recognize how great En Vogue is. They were more mature and came out before the rest of them.

agree, if it were an objective list, i'd have them easily in the #2 spot - TLC still my fave - but subjectively, i gotta put them in the rear.

I haven't seen their Unsung yet, but wasn't the break up of Xscape due to these issues:

- struggle over Latocha Scott vs. Kandi as leads

- struggle over Latocha Scott and Kandi wanting solo deals

- rumors of Kandi sleeping with Jermaine Dupri to land a solo deal

- Latocha Scott ultimately getting a solo deal

- struggle over writing

- some beef between Latocha's sister (can't remember her name, but she's in the group) and Kandi (I think it was with Tiny too) over something that Tocha's sister was saying about Kandi.

I watched it last night. Tocha was 100% wrong. She let her dude get in her head and had her thinking she was bigger than the group (no pun intended). Kandi was always the baddest one in the group to me. Tocha was out of line when she announced she was going solo. She walked in the room and told Kandi she could do her model thing and told her sister and Tiny they could keep having babies because she's leaving the group :scust:.

you named pretty much everything.

kandi is weird, she worked for the group, but no way i'd want to hear her solo for an entire album, but realistically none of them had the looks for solo stardom, and rarely does it work.

terry ellis - nope
dawn robinson - nope
t-boz - nope
left eye - nope
slim from 112 - nope (tho his album was dope)
coko - nope
marques houston -nope
omarion - nope

beyonce was the anomaly that happens once a generation - like michael or diana or even gladys

I thought Omarion was successful. Some of the rest you named had single hits here and there.
