"nobody cares about Weinstein" :hula: Weinstein started the whole metoo movement
"Weinstein doesn't have power like this" :hula:Thanked more than even Jesus at the Oscars, raped superstars for a decade and nobody could say or do shyt, blaccballed actresses for not fukking w/ him.
"Weinsten has nothing to do with MJ" :hula: The Weinstein movie was supposed to be the big expose at its film festival. The MJ movie was added last minute and wasn't originally even supposed to be there.
"We all knew" :hula:Covered nowhere in mainstream media, didn't get an oprah episode, etc.

These are some of the WOAT arguments I've ever seen. Surely nobody could believe this nonsense.

also, the MJ doc and the weinstein doc are the ones with the obvious link. R Kelly is on his own and has nothing to do with either of them.

:salute:

Above the fray.
What you're saying doesn't make any sense. The story of a colossal Hollywood exec abusing his power and sexually assaulting a litany of Hollywood's biggest actresses should be as big of a draw as a laughably one sided doc of 2 known liars accusing a decades old dead man of molestation and a doc of a man who is really no longer commercially relevant and people already knew was a sexual deviant. Matter fact, neither the MJ or Kellz doc set any type of ratings records, and understandably so. Why was the media so infatuated with pushing those docs so fervently and not the one about the poster boy for the #metoo movement and involves huge relevant and ALIVE Hollywood stars?
It makes sense unless you IGNORE that the absence of "Hollywood's biggest actresses" in this documentary. You keep trying to downplay that as if that wouldn't drive interest in the project.

I believe social media drove the creation of, and viewership for the R. Kelly documentary. I'm certain that regardless of the nielsen ratings, that it trended on twitter or whatever metric they use now to measure those things. Also if you've paid attention R. Kelly's name has surfaced in terms of backlash and allegations of "kidnapping women" back and forth the past 5 or so years. It's not as though everybody forgot about his past and the doc. sprang out of nowhere. In fact, I'd bet that within the past 2 years that online discussions and people dropping "inside information" after a news story about the "kidnapped girls in Kell's harem" is what formed the basis for the documentary.

From gossip site chatter to tv show is how Basketball Wives got on the air.I'd bet that the R Kelly doc. comes from same people who scour those sites for show ideas. And then the women who are members of those sites promote the tv shows on social media. A full cycle.
When you say the R. Kelly doc. was heavily promoted by the media....do you mean in terms of ads? Or heavily promoted across social media?

MJ was the biggest star ever. Any story about him is going to generate interest.

I agreed with OP about the H.W. doc not getting media attention and reviews for the reasons he stated, BUT I think you guys are refusing to acknowledge the things I bought up . I invited y'all to share that other doc. about HW that I posted. Do you have interest in watching it? What has been the feedback from people you've shared it with?

According to you it was an anticipated story that would draw a big audience.
