I realize that's just the game that coaches play...
They go to a college, develop a program and then leave for more money.

But I really wish more college coaches would stick around and create their own powerhouses instead of jumping ship all the time.

I agree, But these coaches see the endless pockets and recruiting pull of the majors and can't help themselves.

When they finally got Chris Peterson from Boise State I knew no Mid-Major was safe.

The last thing I thought I'd see on the coli is a Houston Cougars football thread...in fukking July no less:wow:

Tom Herman is that dude but this all started before him. Dr. Khator has been at UH for less than a decade and the progress the entire school has made since then is amazing. Few people outside of UH alums and presidents/Chancellors of other schools can truly appreciate everything. As far as Herman is concerned he's being given financial support unlike any coach in the school'system history. To his credit though he obviously "gets it". He took less money so he could build the staff he wanted. Although he's not being paid like a top p5 conference coach his assistants are well compensated. The highest paid DC of a g5 school coaches at Houston. Plus almost all of them are big time recruiters in Southeast Texas. I know people say Herman is gone in a few years which may be true but we'll be alright either way. Guys like Muschamp, Lane Kiffin, and Tim Deruyter are publicly known names who interviewed for the job and Sonny Dykes from Cal secretly interviewed and badly wanted the job. Besides that I think the majority of UH fans believe we'll be in a p5 conference by the end of this decade (actually sooner than that according to people in the know but I'm somewhat of a skeptic). For the record so does Tom Herman...

And I'll only bring this up because so many here are supposedly about black excellence... Let's not forget which Texas school had the first black head coach. While some schools are beating their chest about finally having a black coach, back when Houston lost one game in 2011 our staff had a black head coach, black co-offensive coordinator, black defensive coordinator, black strength coach, and even a black team chaplain. Let us not forget which of these Texas schools actually admit and educate black students instead of having some pathetic black enrollment rate. Let us do our research and see which school's fanbases have a problem with a diverse school in a black neighborhood. Let's make sure we know which fanbases think a neighborhood with mansions and million dollar homes is a ghetto because it's mostly black people. Let's make sure we don't end up as a young black man on message board repeating racist jokes out of ignorance. If it's c00n behavior to paint the Confederate flag on your chest then it's c00n behavior to repeat "cougar high" jokes (because only a hs would admit a bunch of black students).

In response to a few things in this thread:

oh nah...the fact that dj hayden is a bust and greenberry aint even get drafted says it all :camby:

Hayden went high in the draft after almost dying. Bust or not he's not a negative to the program by any means. Chill on the Greenberry bashing breh. Dude had a really rough year. His pops was murdered right before the season and soon after his son was born. The incompetent qb play last year was just the icing on the cake.

1 of the 4 was visiting UT all last week.

Oliver is there b/c of his brother.

who are the other two?

The media is out to get Charlie Strong for some reason. Let's talk in February when CS has another top class. CS doesn't sign kids early, he lets them go thru the process then he picks them off in the winter.

Collin Wilder and Bowman Sells. BTW Jordan Elliott has toured a bunch of campuses this summer so I wouldn't flatter yourself.

Tom Herman last years offense coordinator of the year at tOSU. Also qb coach of 2x B1G player of the year B Miller, Heisman canidate And single season B1G td record holder JT Barrett, and Starting National Champ, 12 Gauge Cardale Jones. Thats whats attracting recuits to Houston. Plus the fact he is literally running his program like tOSU under Urban Meyer. Tom Herman is one if the smartest football minds in college football. In the next 5 years he will get a major gig. Houston about to be on the map, book it. He already nabbed the schools 1st ever 5 star recuit. :salute:

Technically Greenberry was the first 5 star since one of the services had him ranked that highly. Either way neither are the biggest recruits in school history. UH had signed national top 10 guys before but unfortunately for us you gotta go back decades. Hard to imagine for people our age but the old mfers pulling the strings for realignment are well aware of how good we can be if put on a level playing field.

Damn breh, you put in work with that post.

Good stuff.

:whew:

I might root for Houston. I love an up-and-coming team.

@Charlie Broadway i told you months ago elliott wouldn't sign with yall, looks like you're finally seeing the light.

That leaves Oliver, who I bet ends up at LSU or another SEC school once this #houstontakeover thing fades.

Both Wilder and Smalls are using UH as placeholders. That's my opinion, could be wrong...we'll see.

:russ: to be fair most people said Elliott wouldn't sign with us. Matter of fact I don't recall any recruiting guy thinking he'll stick but we'll see. He's done nothing surprising so far so I'm not worried right now. I'll agree that he seems the most flaky if that good enough for you. :patrice:

The rest is just you hating lol. It's all good though.

Sound like their in the same boat as Louisiana Tech...

We can't really compete with LSU on any level really because of the crazy support, but we're still better than anyone else in the state
