I live in Miami, but I'm about to purchase a car in Georgia. I've always thought when you buy a car in another state you don't pay the sales tax until you register the car in your home state. However, the dealer is telling me since I am financing a portion of the price with them they will go ahead and add the FL sales tax into the price.

2013 Cadillac ATS 2.0T Premium AWD
Thunder Gray Chromaflair w/ Moretto Red interior & carbon fiber accents
1,800 miles
4 yr / 50k miles bumper-to-bumper
Cadillac maintenance program ( free oil changes, tire rotation, and brakes)

$37,800

Edit:

One picture for the moment until I can take some proper ones , so happy with my choice. That red interior with the chromaflair outside :wow:

Process was pretty tedious, but smooth. Took about 6 hours, they calcuated all the tax and title fees. Good thing I remembered that I was transferring plates since that saved me about $400.

And how about my dam transmission on my old car straight died ON THE WAY up to get my new car :what:. Had to get a uhaul and tow that bytch 500 miles. Took me 17 hours to get from Miami to Atlanta since it broke down, but fukk it it's all behind now.

The ATS Exterior already looks dated
I was checking for it when it first came out but now its just :scusthov:

I like it, especially the rear. Imo, has the best looking exterior in its class. The IS is ok too. Too bad that ATS V won't be out til 2015

Anyone have experience/info on this?

From that link, it sounds like you pay for the sales tax when you register the car in Florida.

I did the same thing you did. Since Ga is expensive when it comes to cars I bought a car off of ebay and got it shipped to my property in Fl. The only thing you really have to do if you buying out right is pay Fl taxes on it. If you finance the car then the dealer will calculate tax and title fees for Fl and put in the price.

How much did you pay for shipping? I'm seeing average $550 to ship from Duluth to Miami. I called the FL DMV was asked them if they knew about some $589 FL tag fee and he had no idea what that was so I'm going to call BS on the dealer when I get there.
