i think his argument could be compared to what people were saying about the new star wars.
it was cool, dope, the hype was there. but its basically the original star wars movie with new characters when it comes down to it. we got let into the same world of star wars but didnt exactly get to see anything 'new' in said world.
the album is sonically good, lyrically fine, but nothing new was bought to the table in it. theres no new glimpses into drakes world, that we havent seen before on it. maybe once the videos start coming that will change, but the previous outings of drake's became monsters on their own, and this one, while a commercial smash, may critically and culturally, be the first of his projects that 'comes and goes' (pause).
bummer, but its normal. people on top dont stay on top forever, everyone drops a dud at some point. is drake washed rn? i doubt it. if his next album is more of the same, then yeah his run might be up.
i think drake has been solidified in his theme of extravagant introspection (his lane), but joe seems to think that if anything, Views is a phoned in album by someone who is too talented to be phoning it in (specially with all them tents, AMIRITE).
i think joe makes a good and valid point, but there's not really any answer one can give for joe's thoughts and ideas on the album, except for drake himself. maybe the cover is a good metaphor for how he feels, but not in the 'i run my city' way, but for how disconnected he feels from everyone/everything.
