Minus the incessant screaming, I get what Budden is saying. Because as a fan of both, I see it as Budden is watching himself playing chess with Hov. Let's say you entertain the Hov conspiracy. Considering Budden and Drake's similarities (at his heart of hearts, Drake is a product of Phonte/Ye versatility, Joe Budden introspection/moods, Jay-Z/Pusha charisma now...not priort to Take Care), Budden is watching what would have happened between him and Hov had Budden's career took off.

Like Drake, Budden's favorite rapper and the one he wanted to be like at the time was Hov (and Em...but he modeled himself after Hov in some areas). Granted he never got the look or appreciation Drake got from Jigga...at some degree Hov fukked with him (almost signed off on son going to the Roc). the "Pump It Up" shyt was very instrumental too. Hov thought he got the best of Joe, then Joe came back a week later and smashed it, down to even flipping the same basketball references. next thing you know...he gets blackballed.

I think Joe Budden is seeing Hov trying to do the same shyt to Drake right now...that He did to budden...but Hov can't cuz of where Drake is at now...so its taking a different direction.

Drake could of dropped the best rap album ever and this nikka would of went on this same exact rant. It's hate. His co hosts was hitting it on the head. The more they hit it on the head the more it made him madder cause he knew they was right

Jay really blackballed him?

Its been rumored that he did keep Joe's albums on the shelf. or at least thats what Joe believed back then (and now) cuz after "Pump It Up" son was trying be positioned as that new nikka at Def Jam, with Hov watching over him...hov only fukked with him cuz of dj clue and duro and them.

"Shouldn't be a question about your favorite rapper
And my label got me questioning my favorite rapper"

And of course "Talk To Em" was pretty much him challenging Hov

"Campaign going full thortal like a race
Feeling Funkdafied get a bottle to the face
Face, for you times is rough too (WHY?)
Cause ain't nobody buying ya albums but you (Talk 2 Em!)
From the sounds of everything I hear you lost it
Still rap aight, but ya peers exhausted
fukk ya bunch of money, put ya ego to the side
And maybe it's time to study ya understudy (Talk 2 Em!)
I mean, are we hustling or are we grown up?
Everytime I hear you, you changing ya tone up
When the new generation think about Jordan
All they remember is when Iverson crossed him (Talk 2 Em!)
Take off the blazer, lossing up the tie
nikka fell in love and superman died
Better learn to cover ya ears when the toys pop
I hate ya last single (pause) Boys Roc
Can we hear some new nikkas with promise?
The new generation won't forget you we promise
We'll always pay homage
But let's get one thing understood son
Every Encore ain't a good one! (Talk 2 Em!)"

ALL these shots came out while he was/just leaving Def Jam

All Joe is saying is that if Hov is the "Blueprint", than Drake has the potential to model Hov and be bigger. Not only from a music perspective but financially, business-wise, etc. It sounds like he thinks Drake is not inspired or losing inspiration musically and that disappoints him because he used to spend time with Drake and saw how humble and hungry he was.

so Joe is pointing fingers at Jay? it was rumored Drake was taking shots at him a while back on a few songs before. plus he recently spoke on his relationship with Jay saying they ain't on the best terms right now. maybe it has something to do with signing with Apple and not Tidal. Wayne did a deal with Jay when he dropped the Free Weezy Album last year.
