Joe's shots at Jay were always dope....Jay had so much clout by that time, there was no way to really battle in a substantial way, but Joe would have washed him....Jay's bar on 'Reminder', 'Tell them regular joes button up' lol

Crazy they battled over 'Pump It Up', I remember that from 2003, I never liked that beat but the bars were crazy on the remixes....and just the whole idea that back then someone like Budden just went right at Jay, who hadn't been exalted to demigod status yet....In fact, Jay was still trying to wash 'Ether' off, and stepping up his bars post 'The Blueprint', where he was slacking.....2003 he had the S. Carter tape, and a seemingly unstoppable 50 coming for the game, the Roc The Mic tour, and Budden all at the same time.....dude was fighting for his legacy.

Joe right and he opened my eyes to what the music industry is all about.

Drake is not talking about females half the time in his song on views he talking about himself. Like Joe said some ppl have a better ear for finding this kinda stuff. Joe very much like me a over thinker that why I see where he coming from but y'all just call him crazy.........

I think I got his point. Let's see.

So Drake is on the level of stardom as Jay and Eminem right?. Marshall wasn't cut out to be in the public eye. Joe believes that. Jay enjoys being in the public eye and Joe thinks he's done hip-hop a disservice in a way as the flag bearer of hip-hip.

Joe as an old head is concerned with the direction of hip-hop. He thinks nikkas gonna be done after all this streaming shyt. He wants more out of Drake because if Drake can do what he wants to do then he can get other nikkas on.

But here's where Joe's argument falls apart. Drake has never done or said anything that isn't on Views. Drake has always been about little relationship bullshyt. Drake isn't Pac, he's not trying to be a revolutionary and never will be.

I think you're misunderstanding Joe's point

His whole point without saying it is Drake can do what he wants because of where he is positioned and he's not doing anything with that position to help hip-hop move forward :manny:

He's kinda right. Streaming will kill off the rest of what was left. There's not going to be anymore creativity in the mainstream. Someone like Drake could start doing more and in turn it would trickle down to smaller acts etc. etc.. but Drake has never been about that.

Budden puts unreasonable expectations on Drake. Just like a Father who never made it to the league but whose son broke thru.

Budden gotta stop trying to live vicariously thru Kirby. Drake was never that deep and his music was never on "that" level of introspection. Its always been surface level shallow shyt. Thats why the girls n lil kids love it.

Drake was never going to be the new pac who was gonna save the world and music :mjlol:

Well that's evolution. If you're that good at being introspective...and you're inspired, you'll reach that new level that you've only skimmed before. Drake can do that....he just didn't do that with Views

Budden sounds like that nikka down at the park who thought he'd be an NBA all-star and now he's yellin at all the youngins to hustle :mjlol:

Listen, it's over for Budden. He makes a good point about streaming and the white people taking over hip-hop but Budden is every bit of the pawn that he says Meek is. Actually, Budden did it WORSE than Meek. Budden fukked around with all them hoes, video hoes, all that same bullshyt.. Meek actually wifed up Nicki Minaj.

So who really is a pawn? :russ:

Its been rumored that he did keep Joe's albums on the shelf. or at least thats what Joe believed back then (and now) cuz after "Pump It Up" son was trying be positioned as that new nikka at Def Jam, with Hov watching over him...hov only fukked with him cuz of dj clue and duro and them.

And of course "Talk To Em" was pretty much him challenging Hov

ALL these shots came out while he was/just leaving Def Jam

He's just saying that Drake made the album that he thinks everyone wanted him to make and while the music was decent, it was uninspired and Drake could do a lot better. And I'm inclined to agree.

In my opinion, it's too early to put a final verdict in any way on Views, and the songs are enjoyable. HOWEVER it's by far the least cohesive Drake album I've ever heard. The other Drake albums all had certain distinct vibes to them. I made a thread the other day about how there's a huge distinct difference between So Far Gone-Take Care Drake and NWTS-Present Drake.

After listening to this rant. I thought dude was doing a Stephen A. Smith impersonation. :sas2:

You can't tell me this nikka wasn't channeling the c00n of ESPN during this rant. :comeon:
