I agree on your 5AM point but i think its his way of showing hey im still a 'head at heart. His favorite or one of his favorite rappers was pusha t
the thing is Drake has plenty of songs like that on every album.. You can almost say that's his brand of music. Before the ghostwriting allegations, I never understood why Drake had so many haters. Drake and the generation he came up with (Drake, Cudi, Wale, Cole, and later Kendrick obviously) damn near saved hip hop and refocused the genre from where the south took it in the mid 2000s. They brought a reemphasis on lyricism. You can diss Drake's subject matter but he always had bars, from the comeback season all the way to IYRTITL. Hell Drake's favorite rapper was Phonte, dude was no different than the backpack rapping heads on the coli. I think that's why Joe is upset as this project was supposed to be his magnum opus but instead it's a parody of his past work. He played it safe and Joe thinks that has huge ramifications on hip hop as a genre.

Trying to combat streaming is fighting a losing war. Drake himself might succeed but everyone else is going to have to fall in line. Music will always be relevant and make people rich. But the business of selling records? That's old school. For producers, studio musicians - the game is especially difficult.

People forget that not every Jay album was a classic. Drake stumbled on this one and needs to take the backlash from this and comeback stronger. It was a decent album just not what everyone expected. Look at Vol. 2 then Vol. 3.

Your hatred of Budden never stops leaving me :heh::deadrose: on here

Some of these dudes fawning adoration for this insignificant and highly overrated hip hop personality is funny as sh!t. Like they don't even care that they expose themselves as lames :dead:

Also, n!ggas gotta be clear idiots if they don't realize that he threw this nonsensical rant because he's getting his ass bust by much more entertaining podcasts like Tax' and Nore's.Some n!gga in here claims he did it because hes upset Drake is not gonna reach the level he did :mjlol: N!gga, Drake surpassed Budden on his FIRST album, what the fvck is ya'll delusional ass stans talking about? :mjlol:

Minus the incessant screaming, I get what Budden is saying. Because as a fan of both, I see it as Budden is watching himself playing chess with Hov. Let's say you entertain the Hov conspiracy. Considering Budden and Drake's similarities (at his heart of hearts, Drake is a product of Phonte/Ye versatility, Joe Budden introspection/moods, Jay-Z/Pusha charisma now...not priort to Take Care), Budden is watching what would have happened between him and Hov had Budden's career took off.

Like Drake, Budden's favorite rapper and the one he wanted to be like at the time was Hov (and Em...but he modeled himself after Hov in some areas). Granted he never got the look or appreciation Drake got from Jigga...at some degree Hov fukked with him (almost signed off on son going to the Roc). the "Pump It Up" shyt was very instrumental too. Hov thought he got the best of Joe, then Joe came back a week later and smashed it, down to even flipping the same basketball references. next thing you know...he gets blackballed.

I think Joe Budden is seeing Hov trying to do the same shyt to Drake right now...that He did to budden...but Hov can't cuz of where Drake is at now...so its taking a different direction.
Jay didn't blackball Joe. He just wasn't a priority when the South ran shyt.

Gonna listen to the podcast and response now, but looking at Joe's IG post of the clip, I'm sure he feels like i do. I agree with Joe that Drake peaked on Take Care, and hasn't had the desire to surpass that since because even he knows that whatever he does is gold anyway.

I don't understand why people get so worked up. It's rap. Everyone gets a run and eventually falls off. These aren't basketball teams we're rooting for. They make art and it's up to us to figure out if we like it or not. I like the drake album but it is what it is. No need to try to decipher what's going on in his life. Just enjoy the fukking music and if you don't like it then listen to something else.
