You don’t have to like the content, but their deliveries were fresher than some of those female MCs you uppin
That's mainly due to how hip-hop was changing during the late 90s compared to the early 90s, but the female MCs I mentioned were more skilled than Lil Kim, Foxy & the rest of the clones who gotten passes because of their sex filled lyrics.

The Truth
It’s not just limited to the women. Mainstream rappers generally talk about the same 3-4 topics all the time. They do it because that is what sells.
This is true

But for the limited amount of female rappers out, the only ones getting put on is stripper rap shyt... people don’t understand how ONLY seeing this type of shyt on IG or social media for kids (especially little girls) just creates only that image for them.

Thats why i was glad that “old town road” song was actually as popular as it was for boys and girls. Dude didn’t even curse on it and kids love it. I feel like everything should at least have a balance

That "stripper rap" is the equivalent of gangsta rap in the late 80s/90s. The public made it clear that's what they wanted to hear, and nearly everything that came out afterwards incorporated some of that sound. Even Run DMC were out chea acting tough, LL Cool J released a gangsta rap album, etc.

I'm sure Cardi and all of them have songs about other shyt...just as NWA had songs about other shyt...but the market wants that hustler talk...or stripper talk, whatever you want to call it. The question I have is whether there will ever be room for artists who don't fit that mold to thrive. Tribe still managed to go gold during the gangsta rap era. Busta could still party and have fun without shooting nikkas. Not saying that Rapsody needs a seat at the table for it to be legit...because, let's face it, she's a joyless bum and no chick is gonna be bumping that in the whip, no matter how good of a rapper she is...but surely we can get a female J Cole type rapper right?

Lauryn Hill aint drop a hip hop album?
Fugees?

Missy Elliot?
Queen Latifah?
MC Lyte?

None these artists dropped an album in the 90s? You lying

Dana and Lana are 80/90s MCs when white folks didn’t know what to with the art and the black audience dictated what was hot and what was not... all that changed around the late 90s..... you’re comparing different generations of rap.... today’s culture does not want to hear any uplifting or meaningful rap music, and there are plenty of things to blame for that

My thing with Rapsody is that unfortunately her style is outdated in the sense that she came out in the wrong era, her style fits more more like late 90s Rawkus Records Lyricist Lounge / Soundbombing type of setting.

This era of listeners unfortunately don't care for that style, she just doesn't fit what a female MC is supposed to be in this current style of hip-hop.

Or message...... and since we’re on style/technique, you can actually say Ms Miami delivery > Rapsody
