That "stripper rap" is the equivalent of gangsta rap in the late 80s/90s. The public made it clear that's what they wanted to hear, and nearly everything that came out afterwards incorporated some of that sound. Even Run DMC were out chea acting tough, LL Cool J released a gangsta rap album, etc.
I'm sure Cardi and all of them have songs about other shyt...just as NWA had songs about other shyt...but the market wants that hustler talk...or stripper talk, whatever you want to call it. The question I have is whether there will ever be room for artists who don't fit that mold to thrive. Tribe still managed to go gold during the gangsta rap era. Busta could still party and have fun without shooting nikkas. Not saying that Rapsody needs a seat at the table for it to be legit...because, let's face it, she's a joyless bum and no chick is gonna be bumping that in the whip, no matter how good of a rapper she is...but surely we can get a female J Cole type rapper right?
