I've decided to put my entrepreneur dreams on hold and return back to the IT field. I'm back working as an Sys Admin, back on my Cert game. Im making pretty good money, especially for in Louisiana. Life is good. I really needed to get away from DC. That year off to get my mind right and to figure out what was what. I blew through a ton of money, but it was worth it. That year off, traveling and living free feels like it's added a 10 years to my life. I'm reenergized and vibrant again. Can't put a price on that. I feel like I was losing all of my ambition and drive in DC. I'm happy to be back near my family. About get a new apartment and just enjoy this southern life..

As far as starting a business, I've discussed with a few friends (investing partners) about putting our moneys together and maybe opening a franchise. We all have dreams of starting a business, but on a small business level. None of us have real business owner experience, from what Ive read, franchising includes a lot of help and resourced from the company.

I know a lot of you will say I told you, but the only regret I have is with spending so much carelessly. What really set me back is this job was supposed to start in January instead of August. So instead of me being off for 4 months, I've been off a 12. Bank account has plunged something serious. Might head to DC for a few years to stack that paper back up. Anyhow, ive learned a lot this past year about life and living. I'm so glad I had the courage to leave comfortablitly to pursue happiness and more freedom. I'd do it again

On a side note have you thought about creating some sort of software for your startup instead?

Don't know your back story but I feel you on a lot of what your saying. I'm in the process of switching some things up myself, possibly even a new city. Had a lot of success at my current place, but I'm exhausted and tired of dealing with certain things despite making good $.

I'm about to take a step back and chill for several months. Get my cert game up for real.

No I haven't, not really into software creation. Is that your profession?
Yeah. I was just curious it seems like the easier method of entrepreneurship for someone in IT

Sometimes you need breathe a little. If u can afford to. My only advice is to be very thrifty with your money, you might not be able to jump back into a job as quick as u would like.

For sure man. I've stacked enough I can live for 12 months just off expenses. My car is paid off in 2 months and I'm not a big spender.

I've done this once before back in 09. Was making a lot of dough and I walked away and everyone said I was crazy. Took about a 4 month break then got something else poppin. That lead to my current gig, which has ultimately made me much more $ than I was previously making. However it's also been hella stressful and overall has knocked my health down a notch, and I don't enjoy it so I'm stepping back. I can make $ elsewhere.

I think I'm one of those dudes who needs a reset every few years. Stack some $, then chill for a few months. I've always been able to hustle like that, I get it from my pops.

That's cool bro it seem like ur scared to roll the dice...u keep mentioning losing money and failing...being an entrepreneur is all about losing and failing... Its a gamble...it seem like u have an 9 to 5 mentality and nothing is wrong with that esp if u enjoy ur job. Being an entrepreneur , its all about sacrifice... Sometimes you'll work many days for free just to acquire work

Man. Lot of truth in this post. But sometimes you gotta recharge. What's wrong with falling back for a while?

:what: scared to roll the dice? I left a 100k job to take a chance on starting a business.

Where do I say anything about failing? Im not the type to jump in blindly thinking that Jesus will fix it. Im a numbers man, I feel I need some upper hand or insight.

Clown said i dont have the mindset. Man Stfu!! You know how many type if businesses there are out there. Almost anyone can own some type business. A mobile car wash is a business. You don't know enough to talk like u do. You don't have to lose, if u put your money into anything that means you're willing to lose money. Stop generalizing. You dudes with these good sounding soundbits and cliches that ignorant people love.

Do you have a business? :martin:

:feedme: the backstory behind this so we can eat. Got any budgeting tips on how you stacked so much bread in expensive azz DC? :patrice:
Expensive is relative. If you have the job to balance out the cost of
Iiving then stacking money isn't shouldn't be difficult.

DC is very expensive. Unless you're making 100k and living really cheap, u ain't stacking shyt.

Most of my money came from buying and selling a house, renting out rooms. 700$ a piece. And a few more tax free endeavors.

Most people job take care of their living expenses, u need side hustles to stack. Many of my coworker were making over 100k and didn't have money for lunch some days.

Side hustles my man. Tax free if possible.
