I've decided to put my entrepreneur dreams on hold and return back to the IT field. I'm back working as an Sys Admin, back on my Cert game. Im making pretty good money, especially for in Louisiana. Life is good. I really needed to get away from DC. That year off to get my mind right and to figure out what was what. I blew through a ton of money, but it was worth it. That year off, traveling and living free feels like it's added a 10 years to my life. I'm reenergized and vibrant again. Can't put a price on that. I feel like I was losing all of my ambition and drive in DC. I'm happy to be back near my family. About get a new apartment and just enjoy this southern life..

As far as starting a business, I've discussed with a few friends (investing partners) about putting our moneys together and maybe opening a franchise. We all have dreams of starting a business, but on a small business level. None of us have real business owner experience, from what Ive read, franchising includes a lot of help and resourced from the company.

I know a lot of you will say I told you, but the only regret I have is with spending so much carelessly. What really set me back is this job was supposed to start in January instead of August. So instead of me being off for 4 months, I've been off a 12. Bank account has plunged something serious. Might head to DC for a few years to stack that paper back up. Anyhow, ive learned a lot this past year about life and living. I'm so glad I had the courage to leave comfortablitly to pursue happiness and more freedom. I'd do it again
:birdman:
I'm younger than you but one thing I know is you gotta do it alone. I say this cuz I saw you mentioning opening a franchise with other people.

They're a no real friends when it comes to this. Maybe temporary partners.

Also once again I'm younger than you and probably don't know shyt but IMO it's not wise to pour real money into a business when you've never done it before. Do something that requires little startup money and work up.

This helps you learn as you go

:what: scared to roll the dice? I left a 100k job to take a chance on starting a business.

Where do I say anything about failing? Im not the type to jump in blindly thinking that Jesus will fix it. Im a numbers man, I feel I need some upper hand or insight.

Clown said i dont have the mindset. Man Stfu!! You know how many type if businesses there are out there. Almost anyone can own some type business. A mobile car wash is a business. You don't know enough to talk like u do. You don't have to lose, if u put your money into anything that means you're willing to lose money. Stop generalizing. You dudes with these good sounding soundbits and cliches that ignorant people love.

Do you have a business? :martin:
You're right about this. I know I'm a hypocrite cuz i just added my .02 cents with 'advice'. But you're right about this.

Internet forum people just really aren't about shyt that's why are advice usually means nothing

DC is very expensive. Unless you're making 100k and living really cheap, u ain't stacking shyt.

Most of my money came from buying and selling a house, renting out rooms. 700$ a piece. And a few more tax free endeavors.

Most people job take care of their living expenses, u need side hustles to stack. Many of my coworker were making over 100k and didn't have money for lunch some days.

Side hustles my man. Tax free if possible.

Did they have families [in particular multiple children] to take care of on top of that as well? I can't see how a single person can make 100k a year and not be able save a few thousand a month let alone have lunch money.

Not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur. Many of us are happy to have a job, we just want a better job, one that fulfills us, makes us wealthy, and brings us satisfaction. Still, income is now permanently going down versus inflation for the average employee. Industry, knowledge, and management are all being outsourced cheaply to other countries or to technology.

Many people mistakenly think that the solution is entrepreneurship. That "entrepreneurship is the pathway to riches". This is not true. Being an entrepreneur does have great upside but also it has a well-known rate of failure of 85%. There is no way to predict your way out of that 85%.

The solution is to become a rich employee with the mindset and techniques described in this book. This is the first book ever to detail how one can become a rich employee in our times. And there is more: companies in this new century will only succeed if they encourage their employees to develop The Rich Employee mindset.

Written by the author of "The Choose Yourself Guide to Wealth" which USA Today has called "One of the 12 Best Business Books of All Time" and also the author of WSJ and USA Today bestseller "Choose Yourself" which Forbes recently called one of the "Top Five Books Every Entrepreneur Must Read", this book gives you the tools to find satisfaction, meaning, and true wealth as a rich employee

This helps you learn as you go

never start a business with close friends

just don't do it

Here y'all go with these cliches and good sounding quotes. Smh

You guys know how many businesses begin with joint ventures. Even these movies etc. No one wants to put all of their liquid money up.

You guys just be talking and making conclusions and judgements with the little knowledge u have. Everyone is so eager to give advice.

Ive learned don't want to start a small business. You can't tell anyone that's the way to go for them. I want to franchise.

Friends are friends, business is business is law. We're all talking about put 25k a pc up and trying get a loan for a franchise.

Stop giving advice on shyt you've never done nor know much about.

@Stuntone in 2008 I took a year off and it was the best year of my life. I traveled, partied, and fukked fat bytches, and played a shyt ton of call of duty and street fighter 4 :banderas:

Just the feeling of not having an alarm clock was priceless. It was complete freedom :wow:

I did it again in 2012 and.....yeah :brehwow:

I'm busting my ass now to make that feeling permanent. Don't stop with the entrepreneur dream breh. That's the only way to get real freedom.

100k a year is 5k/mo more or less (depeneds on how you file). In a city like DC half of that is gone for housing off rip if you want to live in a nice area. Add in student loans, credit card debt, car note, and wanting to "live" like you make 100k will have you broke as fukk.
