but it can. this album is straight :trash: and still did better numbers than 99% of rap artist.

an album with better beats and features would still do the same numbers. probably even more because people would inclined to listen to it more than once.

Better than xyz's numbers is not what their depending on from him though. So from a labels perspective, do you test that "he can release whatever and still sell" theory or do you follow the data that says this song should give us the kind of feedback from the market? Eminem featuring Ed Sheran before he would Royce or his recent signees doesn't seem like an organic occurrence. That's prostitution

Maybe people would buy a Pete Rock produced album at the same rate as this shyt..and they would still consider it a failure. Who Kidd or somebody said they scrapped an Adele feature, that should tell you what time it is with this shyt.

as fukked up as it sounds i want this shyt to flop. i was expecting a hip hop "Revival'' themed album but once that tracklist dropped i knew what we were gonna get. let this bomb to the ground, he better have a backup plan and drop another disc with the other songs he's recorded from the sessions of this album. i bet they might be better than this failed attempt.

If it sold well it would just be "that' section of his fanbase rewarding bad behavior, you can't reward how this was put together/put out. Because it'll be the same strategy when he's 50 and they try the same shyt again.

Paul going to DJ has to mean something I think.

from the labels perspective you put out the lead single to be some hit chasing pop trash then lace the rest of the album with listenable music.

then again Eminem is so musically inept he probably had more of a hand in the sound of this album than the label.

i doubt the label was begging him to put on phresher (who nobody knew about before the album) and skylar grey (who is not even a big time name).

Not talking about strictly sales.

He's been trash since Encore though.

Hasn't made an above average album in 14 years :mjlol:

His bIg Beyonce assisted single flopped HARD.

Critics are trashing him.

Issa wrap.

I love pop rap (huge Flo Rida and Pitbull fan) and love most of Em's pop crossover singles and even I gotta admit the crossover songs were type weak, I didn't bother listening to the regular album cuts:huhldup:

From the label's perspective, it's about streams more so than roping people in with a pop song to sell you physical copies. With streaming you have however many tries you want to take at having one of those songs bolster the project's success.

And Phresher seems more like a placement/favor than Em going "I need that guy, him specifically for this song and album", bypassing Royce, Griselda and Boogie after having them on BET. But I'll let you cook on that front.

Seems like this album was meant to bomb......How come there's no music video ?

It wasn't meant to bomb, it was meant to sell streams and be successful but it's a shyt show.

I agree the lack of video is kinda funny style. I can see him turning down appearing in Pink's video but him not having any is odd. He's performing so I don't think it's a drug thing, he might just not give a shyt at this point, like everybody else

giving people songs they want to listen to more than once seems better for streaming like what kendrick has been able to do.

edit: if so, he (and anybody) should've took notes from frank ocean.

funny how eminem stans said that interscope forced em to put all the pop features on the album to maximize it's selling potential when To Pimp A Butterfly did more first week and that was a very anti-pop album.

They forced GKMC to be put out instead of TPAB. Kendrick already spoke on it
