Will needs to do whats natural for him. He is a comedic, wise cracking actor..no one can take Will seriously acting serious. He should of been more active in the movie if he wanted to go that route. Fight with his son. The injury to Will should of happened during a battle when he had to protect his son. This movie was 2 or 3 scenes away from being in the Top 10 of 2013. This movie is better suited for Denzel as the father and Nate Parker as the son. If it had to be Will and Jaden, it should of been an 3D animation.

Pursuit for Happiness? I am Legend? I think dude has pretty good range these days and shouldn't rely on his comedic wise cracking methods.

Ali, IRobot included too!

People dont take his serious as a serious actor? :wtf:

And I disagree not only with that the statement but also the one about the anger of him not being Django. Niccas need to let it go. Some roles are meant for some actors. Django was meant for J. Foxx just like no one else couldve played Alonzo as well as Denzel and so on.

That bias needs to stop, Will has ate well, let other black actors eat and get theres breh.

hell truth be told, not sure Will wouldve been a better Neo that K. Reeves

Co-sign. That's why I was pissed about him doing this movie instead of something like DJango. I'd like to see him flex his acting muscle, not play a spock-like zen character.

This movie certainly doesn't deserve as low as the ratings are on Rottentomatoes, but it's a culmination of M Night making terrible movie after terrible movie and him being a complete a$$hole when he was making good movies.

He used to only do interviews with questions he made, he would often have the interviewer ask "How does it feel to be such a good up and coming director at such a young age?"

this movie is scoring lower than the happening did, that ain't right.

Ohhh, so these critics have an agenda towards him.

I'd say thats a relatively small factor, the bigger one being him releasing shytty movie after shytty movie when he started off with so much promise. It's more about expectations of the director than anything.

I was saying if he wants go the seriously, he should of been more active in the movie instead of playing his son'S GPS.

AFTER EARTH REBOUNDS AND TOPS OVERSEAS BOX OFFICE:

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $46,592,000 48.9%
+ Foreign: $48,600,000 51.1%
= Worldwide: $95,192,000

Ok it had a 130 Million budget and it's almost made that back after it's 1st weekend overseas. Domestically it probably will tap out between 70-80 Million. But overseas is looking at 200-300 Million. So that puts it at around 300-400 Worldwide. So despite all the hate from critics, the movie will make it's budget back so it's not the Big Bomb and flop people are proclaiming it to me. It's going to end up Top 3 M. Knight Shyamalan gross and a Top 10 Worldwide Will Smith Gross. It's even on pace to tie or outgross "The Karate Kid" from Jaden worldwide.

Yeah Will was feeling himself a lil too much...he should have did Django like he was supposed to in the beginning...and then come back with a real summer movie

Let's see, play a slave in some white man's fantasy or star with your son as the FIRST African Americans to have top billing in a major scifi movie in which you wrote the concept.....

I'd go with Will's choice any day of the week. Yes he After Earth underperformed but at least it was something original and attuned to his own creative vision.

No offense breh but you're assuming best case scenario for domestic and foreign BO. $95 mill is a far cry from $300-$400 mill.

70-80 million domestic? Ya right. It lost almost 30% of its audience this week and has no good word of mouth. It will be lucky to crack 7 million next week. And that's a crazy international guess. You think its going to keep that pace? No way. I think 150 million international and 65 million domestic is a good guess.

is there a reason why movies tend to make more internationally then domestically? i always assumed economies around the world are in trouble

Actually it's just a guess but it still has more places to open overseas. It opened #1 internationally this week. Also 95 isn't that far of a cry from 300 Million. It's 1/3rd the gross of 300 Million Worldwide. Which is very doable. 400 Million would be the best case scenario but 300+ is very manageable.

1st it's the summer months. Legs for movies are better when school is out. It's at 48 Million now but your saying it's only going to make about 15-16 million more domestic? Also Overseas just opened this week to about 50 Million with more terrorties to open including Japan and China. 150 OS + 65 Domestic would put it at 215 Worldwide. It's going to do better than that.

Well the fact is overseas markets have actually expanded especially with 3D. Take "Iron Man 3". It won't even outgross movies like "The Dark Knight or Rises" or even "Toy Story 3" in the states. Yet it made 800 Million OS alone. So overseas markets growing have bailed out a lot of low performing domestic films at times. After Earth is going to struggle in the U.S. but with the #1 opening Overseas it seems international markets will save the movie overall from bombing. You also have to remember. The US/Canada are considered 1 territory and Overseas is made up of over 60-70 territories. So all that money is added up in the Overseas gross. So yes a lot of these countries have economic issues but they still go to the movies.
