This is Wild Wild West part 2....a flop.....

aint nobody gonna remember this movie for being the first "2 black father son in a sci-fi adventure"......its gonna be another M Night floppo that got beat by "the purge"

meanwhile Django was Oscar status

Dont ever think you can discuss movies with me....peon

AE is better for black people than Django

Django is a movie for liberal white people

and besides the cinematography wasn't that good of a movie

It's at 48 Million now but your saying it's only going to make about 15-16 million more domestic?

Yes. It's exactly what I'm saying. Next weekend it won't break $8 million. Weekend after that 4 if it's lucky. It will get another weekend or 2 and then be pulled.

So 65 million...maybe 70 million.

I said about 70-80. I think we agree domestic but I think it will do a little better overseas. It will be in theaters for another month. It won't make 8 million next weekend. I'm saying it will make 5-6 Million next weekend. But it will make another 5 Million during Mon-Thurs. That will put it at 60 Million after next weekend. It will crawl past 70 Million domestic.

Now Overseas you put it at 150 Million. I think that's a good guess but I think it will break 200 Million. So again 300 Million WW is doable so far from a flop overall with 130 Million Budget. But for a Will Smith summer movie it under performed but honestly Will is a supporting character, it's honestly Jaden's staring role and the numbers are in line with his career thus far. Also it if it can make it past 300 Million, it will be one of M. Knight's biggest worldwide hits. It's already off to a better start worldwide than "The Last Airbender" and "The Karate Kid".

Will Smith has stared in 21 movies since 1992 about 20 years ago. Of the 21 movies only 8 did not gross 100 Million. Of those 8, 4 which is half grossed over 100 Million Worldwide:

92' - Where The Day Takes You 400k (It's his debut film and was a arthouse drama)
93' - Made in America 44 Million (But grossed 104 Million Worldwide) (His 1st summer release with Whoopi and Ted Danson) (Comedy/Drama)
93' - Six Degrees of Separation 6 Million (Artistic Drama)
95' - Bad Boys 65 Million (But made 141 Million Worldwide) (Action)
00' - The Legend of Bagger Vance 39 Million (Drama)
01' - Ali 65 Million (Historical Drama)
08' - 7 Pounds 70 Million (Made 161 Million Worldwide) (Drama)
13' - After Earth 70 projected (Will make over 250 Worldwide projected) (Action/Sci-fi)

So Will still has a strong overall average at the Box Office historically. When Will underperforms it's cause he plays a character not as charismatic as his normal performances or he's in a drama. Only "Pursuit of Happyness" was a Drama film he did that blew up at the box office. All his other drama's only did modest box office. "After Earth" is will lowest performing summer film since "Wild Wild West" 14 years ago in 99'.

I just don't see it happening breh. Especially not with a movie with a 11% at RT and Shyamalan's name attached to it. If Will Smith wasn't in that shyt it would've made $5. People keep saying there's some kinda racial agenda against the movie....no, the agenda is against Shyamalan and the sole reason it's doing even half way decent is Will Smith.

Actually "Superman" is not as popular of a superhero as Spider-man overseas or now even Iron Man. "Superman" is an a destroy and rebuild faze. When "Batman Begins" came out, it basically bombed overseas cause Batman wasn't popular internationally like that. "Superman" is more of an American Hero. Look at what "Superman Returns" did internationally last time. Will Smith is more popular Overseas so "After Earth" overseas box office won't be that affected by "Superman":

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $200,081,192 51.2%
+ Foreign: $191,000,000 48.8%
= Worldwide: $391,081,192

This was "Superman Returns" in 2006. Now Domestically, Yes "Man of Steel" is about to wreak some sh!t but the verdict is still out on how well Superman can do overseas. The potential is there though.

I just looked it up, "Man of Steel" opens in 25 Overseas Territories next week. "After Earth" will still be playing in 60 territories. So Yes "Man of Steel" will cut into "After Earth" next week but we will how much it affects it.

nikka please. Wild Wild West still made over 100 millie at the box office (even though it sucked) so while it was a critical flop it was FAR from a commercial flop. And again, Will Smith has the power and clout to do whatever he wants in Hollywood, and that includes taking a risk like After Earth over some white man's fantasy of what happened during Slavery. BOTH movies are works of fiction, so if we're going based upon that then I'd rather a black man starring in a movie in which HE created the concept, in which HE is starring with his son, and in which HE is the Hero be marketed...
