The Village is one of my fav movies. I dont understand the hate for it. I mean, I understand the hate but, I dont. I read people on here said it was marketed as a huge horror movie and they were upset by the lack of horror (and the eventual twist) when they saw it, so I get that I guess. I saw it years later, so I never saw the trailers and just appreciated the movie for what it was. When it showed that it was really 2005 and "the towns" were fukkin Philadelphia and New York, I was :ohhh: :lupe:

Well i hate that brown mothafukka. IMO, he's only made 2 good movies. And the rest have literally been trash....horrible. Then to top it all off, he takes a great story in Avatar, and just pisses on it. Ruined it.

fukk him:pacspit:

I agree he f*cked up on "Avatar". "Lady in the water" was terrible. "The Happening" had a decent story but the way everything came together messed it up. So that's 3 average to bad. Then "The Village" wasn't that bad to me, I understand people feel the twist at the end was suspect but I liked the twist and thought it was deep. "Signs" was dope, "Unbreakable" was dope and "6th Sense" is Classic. Some might say he's hit or miss but I think M. Knight has a good movie in him, hopefully "After Earth" is that we will see. Also people forget M. Knight was a screenwriter 1st. He wrote "Stuart Little" which was a huge critical and commercial success and news just broke that he originally wrote "She's All That", lol but it's a huge teen hit.

This movie might not do big numbers here in the states, but should do well overseas. Will is a much bigger start outside the US now it seems.

I personally liked the Twist cause it really made me analyze the whole movie even more to think people really did that to get away from society. There are "Villages" all across the world as we speak if you get what I'm saying.

So you agree for his last 3 movies, one he fukked up on, one was terrible, and he messed up another one, but the critics are banding together to hate on him?

I just feel critics are looking at those films and trying to use against him now even though this is a whole different movie. I haven't seen it so I can't speak on the film yet but reading some of the reviews you see them bringing up his bad movies and some of them don't even mention his good ones, that's a little bias to me. I do think there is some piling on M. Knight cause like I said critics do the same thing to Michael Bay. M. Knight and Bay could make a good movie and I doubt the critics would give them credit.

I said from day 1 this movie was gonna be garbage. Before I even knew Shamylan was directing. All of the trailers have looked like absolute trash.

The happening is in the running for the worst movie of ALL TIME. Every single aspect of that movie was pure unadulterated :trash: status. Signs, Unbreakable and 6th sense are really dope to me, The Village was dope to me when I saw it but I have no reason to ever go watch that movie again once you know the twist.

The last 3 movies he's made are bad so of course they're going to bring those up.

When Tarantino made Basterds they brought up Kill Bill.

Are they supposed to mention movies Knight made 10-13 years ago in a way that's not showing how hard he fell off?

It's like a qb having his 4th shytty season in a row and complaining that critics don't mention that his first 3 years in the league he played well.

That's the only problem when you make the whole "TWIST" your thing. Once it's revealed it's like a climax happen, lol. I actually hope "After Earth" doesn't have a twist but I wouldn't be shocked if it does. I think because his early twist were so out the box and off the wall people were excited for the "Twist" but "The Village and The Lady in the Water" twist left a bad taste for general audiences. "The Happening" had some good themes about nature and the environment. Marky Mark and some of the plot with the Killer wind is what messed it up.

Yeah, but 6th sense and unbreakable are still dope despite knowing the plot twist. I tried really hard to go into the happening with an open mind, but the plot was ridiculous, writing was horrible, and the acting was some of the worst shyt I've ever seen in my life. I had to turn it off about 30 minutes in, I couldn't even take the movie seriously, it became too comedic.

Yea but you are implying that critical reception is the end all be all in if a movie is liked and I only think that's part of the picture. "Bad Boys I and II" got sh!tted on badly by critics but they both were a box office success and audiences loved both movies. So who's right? We already went over that M. Knights movies are successful so it's not the same analogy as a QB having a shytty season. If you are going to use sports basically M. Knight won games but they were ugly wins in the last few movies. When you've grossed 2.5 Billion at the Box Office as a Director your successful. Now some people may not have liked his last 3 movies or whatever and that's fine but for the most part they were successful.

M Knight has fallen off SO hard. Its like, that dude lost all creativity after his biggest hits. Regardless, it's gonna make dough because of Will being attached. Will needs to get busy on that I AM LEGEND prequel.
