Actually his only real flop was "Lady in the Water". "The Happening" and "The Last Airbender" made their money back. The reason Will wanted to work with M. Knight is cause even though M. Knight is from India originally, he's actually a Philadelphia Native like Will.

Not enough for them to be deemed a success.

And like I said if you factor in promotional costs then they probably lost money.

A lot of careers in Hollywood have been thrown in the bushes for less.

Yea but a lot of times marketing cost are always offset by Home Video sales/TV deals. Trust me they made money. The reason we are still seeing "Directed by M. Knight" cause his movies are profitable. M. Knight despite how controversial he is will always get work as long as his movies are hits. "After Earth" will do 400-500 Million Worldwide at the Box Office so that's going to be another Hit for M. Knight.

I don't think Jaden acting was that bad as he's saying. His overview summary is pretty good but but he's going too far giving it D. I've seen way worse Sci-Fi movies.

Richard Roeper's Reviews - After Earth Review - YouTube

the review sells the movie better than the trailer...this kind of movie needs someone that can make the action scenes fit the premise and i doubt that person is m. knight...the cgi wasnt lookn too hot either...i will check it out 'cause i give anything sci fi a look--:manny:...

Lastly I find it odd that a Big Summer Blockbuster Sci Fi movie finally starting a mostly Black or minority cast and all the critics are bashing it to death. No film this summer has more diversity outside of maybe "Fast 6" than "After Earth". Support it guys. Also I'm not buying the "Scientology" rumors. The movie if anything is like "Avatar" cause it promotions saving the environment.

I didnt want to go there with the racial aspect bc Shyamalan seems to be at the center of all the bad reviews. lol But you might be on point. How many black sci fi joints are there? You know a lot of folks aint comfortable seeing us outside of roles where we aint showing our teeth or dancing. haha I copped my tix for the 9pm showing.

:rudy: that wasn't no damn review, you basically reviewed the trailers.. and then gonna have the nerve to put a spoiler alert :usure:

the review [unlike the trailer] gives you an idea of what the movie is about without that cocksucker roeper bloviating...

I would have loved to see this movie in the theaters...But man..I have to much hate in my heart to go see anything M. Night made. This is the same son of a bytch who tried to destroy Avatar the Last Airbender. White washed the shyt out of it. I'll be getting this from my local bootleger when he gets the barbershop. LOL

The real shocker when you really look at it, how the hell did that awful director make something as brilliant as the Sixth Sense...I gotta watch that back and see if maybe that trick ending fooled me into thinking more highly of it than I should have.

Sixth Sense isn't even his best movie, his second one Unbreakable was.

Have no idea how he fell off so hard.

And Unbreakable was supposed to be a trilogy. First was the superhero origin story.

I don't normally pull the Race Card but sometimes it has to be pulled. All the time a lot of us spend arguing that Tyler Perry and more blacks need to be in "Sci-Fi" films not just as supporting characters but as Leads. "After Earth" is a major Blockbuster staring two Blacks in the Leads and directed by a guy from India. I'm going to watch it tomorrow.

If it's wack, it's wack. I got love for Will but he's not above criticism. But forgive me if I'm excited to see a Brother and his son doing it Big like this. Will is a Legend. If it was a different director, I'm sure the reviews would be different. Critics really have the knives out for M. Knight cause he really pissed them off since most of them were calling him the Next Spielberg/Hitchcock when he dropped.

I don't hate M. Knight, he's made some dope movies to me. Every Director even the Greats had duds in their catalog.

Well i hate that brown mothafukka. IMO, he's only made 2 good movies. And the rest have literally been trash....horrible. Then to top it all off, he takes a great story in Avatar, and just pisses on it. Ruined it.

fukk him:pacspit:
