damn, he used to praise Game Pass all the time in his streams

the tides are truly turning

I've been explaining this to people for years and the act like I'm crazy or they're oblivious. The console market is built on subsidized hardware on the front-end and these companies recoup their money through software sales. Xbox as a brand wasn't doing too hot with their hardware sales and they expounded the problem with Gamepass because it cannibalizes software sales on top of it placing themselves in a death spiral. Then they tripled down on it acquiring all of those companies and placing them on Game pass too. They have lost hundreds of millions of dollars of software sales because they have trained their consumer base to not purchase games and expect all AAA games day 1 on the service for $15 a month lol. That's why the real M$ head have stepped in and put Phil at the kiddie table until they sort this is out. They're mission is to jack the price up to force people off the service and back to buying the actual games. Phil is just there to take all the heat and criticism that he rightly deserves and when they hit a convenient spot they'll fire him for being incompetent lolBRB trying to picture Netflix, Disney, or even Spotify having a streaming service and creating a carve out for a specific piece of popular media on their service. You can get the Disney+ ad tier but if you do you can't get Marvel movies on it within a year of release or you can get the Spotify ad tier but no Taylor Swift albums within a year of release.
Game Pass is a part of the legacy Xbox hardware first business. Now that Microsoft is effectively a 3rd party a service that grants access to all their games without you having to buy a copy is in the way of the selling customers games.
They don't seem to just want to shutter the service so they're doing stuff like rapid price acceleration to make it unappealing to the masses and save face. They are turning what Game Pass was into something that doesn't make sense for the typical gamer who doesn't buy 5 AAA games a year and who doesn't play enough games to justify spending $360 a year on rentals.
They're fully aware this will cost them subscribers. That's actually the plan. Get these people to prefer buying games again and meet them on their platform of choice. Game Pass and Xbox hardware are for die hard whales now.

He did that's why they still have him on there. He's effectively not making any big decisions. But he can be the face of all this public negativity. But once they get to a point where they can turn the corner. They'll offer him up as a sacrificial lamb and fire him.I dunno mayne he got them into this hole and then some.
