You have to understand how these hit pieces are structured. It's not itemized for a reason. This probably includes a lot of stuff that most workers don't use, like college reimbursement, gym memberships, new car discounts, etc. Elective stuff. I'm sure it includes 401k contributions, employee stock plans (or a similar investment tool), and other fringe benefits. Base compensation is probably between 90k-120k.

UPS CEO says drivers will average $170,000 in pay and benefits at end of 5-year deal

According to the article, full-time workers will average $49 per hour. But how many employees are full-time workers for UPS?

The article mentions that this could impact 340,000 workers but that's misleading.

This $170,000 headline is clickbait used to draw criticism at an industry AND UNIONS that the average American does not view as valuable.

Yeah, what’s the catch tho :comeon:

Is that 170 the absolute top of the payscale assuming you’re a long haul driver with 10+ yrs of experience willing to put in crazy amounts of overtime?

and that in itself requires a CDL. the local nikkas in the box truck ain't seeing anywhere close to this figure.

They make more than me, BUT I’d rather take my $120k over $170k when I show up when I want, take lunch when I want, get off when I want, etc. I can’t stand being micro managed

Or

Working long shifts in a warehouse, doing actual physical labor?

They deserve that money

Depend on what city you live. Most people have their dogs fenced in or on a leash.

It’s a hard job, I did security back in the days at a UPS center and the drivers were absolutely overworked and depressed.
