After multiple watches, I take back what I said about Lux coming light. He wasn’t punching heavy but his writing was top notch. I think it was impossible to follow up Day/Roc so the drop in energy clouded my judgment

Me I was just salty that Surf choked again and the battle was about to be one sided because of that and not the classic I wanted it to be But yeah, once again Lux's rounds are starting to age like wine

Choking is something you credit the opponent with causing! Surf ain't just write them rounds last week. What Lux was doing and saying caused Surf to choke.

I never said lux was wack in this like I didn’t think he was wack against ars and thought he was amazing against verb but I think he does shyt that sometimes need to be skipped. I don't hate the crowd but I like how this setting is taking away an element these battle rappers need to adapt to. I think having a crowd is a big crutch for some of these guys to get over time and time again to claim a win. It's showcasing who is built to rap for real. If you can do it with crowd reaction....or without crowd reaction....with no slip ups or chokes...go in whether its a few people to a sold out venue, that shows how good the talent is.

I'm with you. Its fun to see battles get through material without the gas. It removes cheap bars where you gotta mention the venue/location you in, and it removes all the pandering for cheap points.
This is what the volumes SHOULD'VE been in my opinion. All bars, no gas.

Some of the biggest moments in battle rap would not hit the same in an empty room.

Get smack the fukk outta here, the far back camera angle that showed the crowd to where it looked like the building was literally shaking. You dont get that with no crowd

Choking is usually a mental block more than preparation. Most battlers go over and over their material for weeks and have it memorized down to a T. But when it's live, let's say you stumble over a word, or go brain dead for a split second, the panic of trying to remember your next bar will take over, and if you're not mentally strong enough to not let those thoughts creep in, it could be over for you.

My issue is when people constantly do it like Surf and Twork. I think Surf's is a mental block, while I think Twork's is lack of preparation.

Nobody's taking away from those moments, or even disagreeing. But silent room battles should be A standard of battling (not THE standard of battling) moving on from this. John John getting Jakkboy the fukk outta here wouldn't nearly be the same thing without a crowd especially with throwing the chain and tay roc losing his fukkin mind up there.
