I'd say no. I get what they're saying but you can't bring logic to an emotional topic. It's the same about gun violence. The problem is even trying to figure out how to prevent these people from offending is taboo.

but society rightfully went in the opposite direction. The biggest thing now is trying to figure out how to prevent these people from offending. Either changing their DNA, get them therapy, etc. The ones that do offend should get life no parole.
Exactly. If people are killed or jailed just for having these urges without acting upon them you're going to exacerbate the problem by automatically grouping them with violent offenders who do deserve harsh penalties. If you make it hard for these people to get help before they offend I'm assuming it's a ticking time bomb. They go underground not getting help to prevent taking action. IMO, there should be huge push to prevent this via scientific research, pharmaceutical, etc to protect society's children. Hitting everything with a hammer is so America and doesn't work.
