I would not say it is a win.

And I am shocked someone as progressive as you would say that. Since when are discussions a win? I know you would not say a "discussion" about climate change is a win so why that?

But yes if we get a momentous deal out of these discussions THEN I would say it is a win. For now its just "progress".

I wonder what else is left for him to do foreign policy wise. This really is HUGE. If I were him I would have made a prime time address on this.

But not just discussions though, there was real action and compromise. The discussions are merely to extend and broaden the concessions . We eased sanctions, they halted progress and agreed to inspections. The Presidents actually spoke directly. That's a big win considering post 79 relations.

Comparing foreign policy to climate change is silly friend.

Well I'm a Canadian(live in america) so I didn't have to deal with this problem like some of you losers anyway I could travel there whenever i wanted to but nice to have you guys join the club :lolbron:

Edit:

At least one powerful Democrat agreed. New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, another fierce critic of Cuba, slammed Obama's announcement Wednesday, saying that the move to normalize relations "vindicated the brutal behavior of the Cuban government.

^^Isn't Bob Menendez the same dude that was fukking the hoes in DR and denied it :patrice:

I think he is gonna pardon that Sister.

@Koapa honestly I thought about that also. No lie. Putin got the foot on his neck now.
Doubt it...and i'll be surprised if she does.

See...her breaking out of jail is one thing, but being connected to a cop death (not saying she pulled the trigger) AND (arguably) a domestic terrorist organization (lets be factual here) doesn't bode well for her.

And many pardons are for people who often engage in non-violent things or less severe crimes.

And this time it would be even bigger because the networks like NBC and ABC who declined to portray the immigration speech would show this speech this time so half the country would know it and his poll numbers would go up immediately. Sometimes the way these guys think....

But "technically speaking"" he could still have it tonight if he wanted to.

Can somebody help me understand the issue with relaxing the embargo and travel. I hear CNN say the older Cubans that are in Florida are upset because of everything they went through in the past but do the older Cubans consider how this generation of Cubans feel about these actions.

I feel like this is another chess move by Obama with Russia.
Travel is different from the Embargo

1. The state dept is under the executive branch and thats why obama can open embassies and what not

2. the embargo is something congress signed into law and if it is to be overturned congress itself has to do it. Obama can't just step over every law he wants.

its hard to get countries to give nukes up.

We did it with Libya and Iraq but that was only after pelting them with the 80s greatest missile technology.
