Just saw this pic on Twitter.

For all you we need more color and we need kids from urban areas. Wait 5-10 years and see the young talent that this country is going to start producing. The MLS academies are in the very early stages right now, but they are going to start producing better athletes and players we've seen.

mexico is one of the most disappointing soccer nations in the world

actual mexicans aren't even that good at soccer, so i don't know why people think mexican-americans that are not even good enough to play for the mexican national team would help the united states.

didn't we learn our lesson from those germans like fabian johnsnon and jermaine jones who went to play for the USMNT because they weren't good enough to play for the german national team?

Mexico and the Mexican national team are the biggest disappointments every world cup.

As for the German Americans. Yes, they weren't good enough to play for the German National team, but honestly Germany's national team pool is so stacked with talent that their 2nd/3rd tier players who never scratch the first team are starters in most other countries. Jones has been solid for the USMNT. Too bad injuries and age really took away from what he could have been for this country. He didn't start playing for the USA until he was 28. Fabian is a quality player who can't stay healthy or has always seemed to be played out of position with the USMNT. He's played very well in Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach.

i like jermaine. he's solid, but i just think the best thing for the united states moving forward is focusing on homegrown talent, instead of patching a leaky boat with players that weren't good enough to play for the country they really wanted to play for :manny:

No way. Mexico is a second rate football nation and they achieve at the level their talent indicates that they should

England are way more disappointing than Mexico.

How many Mexican players have ever played in the champions league? Not many.

Mexico doesn’t have a big reputation outside of concacaf

Johnson and Jones been two of the best US players though and have played hard.

Timothy Chandler's clown ass is someone you can clown but others, nah.

On top of that, some of the best US players of all time were from other countries. Thomas Dooley for example.

There is nothing wrong with trying to get players born in different country to represent you, if htey are eligible. Every nation does it. shyt, Spain were the World Champions and had Diego Costa representing them. Their run to greatness started with Marcos Senna in the midfield.

and that does nothing to help the united states moving forward.

focusing on foreign players is a band-aid solution.

is the goal to develop more top tier united states players so we can become legit threat in world football or piece together makeshift soccer teams using mediocre foreign players using our lax dual-citizenship policies just so we can qualify for the world cup?

They are all natural born Americans, so nothing lax about their citizenship.

You sound like you belong on team #MAGA. :camby:

a) you shytted on German Americans
b) most of the German Americans you shytted on are black Americans
c) why can't you do both?
Facts, the African Americans born in foreign countries like Germany would instantly help the usmnt, while the young African Americans in mls academies are still developing untill they get a call to the national team. That gives us more talent to work with.

how do ya'll expect to compete with the Germany's of the world using players that aren't even good enough to play for the german national first team?

fabian johnson was born in germany, learned to play football in germany, and played for germany's U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 team?

these temporary solutions are just putting cologne on a musty body. and the united states keeps getting away with not caring about fixing the UNITED STATES youth system as long as they keep qualifying for the world cup and tricking people into believing everything is fine.

this mentality is what will continue to hold the united states back.
