how do ya'll expect to compete with the Germany's of the world using players that aren't even good enough to play for the german national first team?

fabian johnson was born in germany, learned to play football in germany, and played for germany's U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 team?

these temporary solutions are just putting cologne on a musty body. and the united states keeps getting away with not caring about fixing the UNITED STATES youth system as long as they keep qualifying for the world cup and tricking people into believing everything is fine.

this mentality is what will continue to hold the united states back.
I don't think of it as a temporary solution. Its having an expansive talent pool. There is nothing wrong with that.

Like I said before, you can do both.

a talent pool of c and d level players.

we're not getting the marcos reus and julian draxlers of the world to choose the united states over germany.

Competing with Germany isn't a realistic expectation at this time. Pretty much no one competes against them and that includes the other world powers. Just because you aren't good enough to play for Germany in no way means you aren't a quality player. America needs to be looking at all corners of the world to compile the best team they possibly can. American residents, military kids born in other countries, kids with dual citizenship. Yes, we need to build up our youth system, but why turn our nose up at players who aren't good enough to play for Germany, but are still better players then the ones we are currently bringing up through our youth systems. We need to field the best team we possibly can.

I've been following the USMNT since 1994 and we've always been a collection of local and global players. A lot of time those global players are some of the best we've had.

and the USMNT hasn't been shyt since 1994 so what's the point?

i'm not about turning our nose up to them, i'm saying that it doesn't help the united states long term. it keeps us average. just saying we need more foreign players to get better is lazy.

if you want to stay average then cool, keep doing it the same way. i'm talking about from the perspective of wanting to be more than average.

for the united states to really move forward they have to get over just trying to put together a makeshift team good enough qualify for wold cups, and beating mexico in the gold cup, and do a complete overhaul of the united states youth system. that's all i'm saying.

All of you in here better be watching the USA U-17's right now playing against Paraguay in the round of 16 of the World Cup.

Starting lineup.

The next round of World Cup qualifying some of these names will be the names we'll be talking about.

might be because the US probably doesn't express any interest in them from when they're kids

and yeah when I saw the name Weah I was like :whoo: Good to see there's an african legends son on the come up out here

and Weah might become president of Liberia :deadrose:

:blessed: that LIB connection!

Handball? Hockey? Winter sports?

To say that Iceland allocates all their sporting resources to soccer is simply false.

Also there are definitely soccer-obsessed markets in the US, particularly among African immigrants and non-Caribbean latinos.

The amount of people in Iceland playing soccer is something 10x the amount of people playing the #2 sport.

Love
lol y'all still using the "best athletes don't play soccer:mjgrin:" excuse
The funny thing about them saying that is they fail to realize that these countries’ best athletes don’t play basketball or American football either...duh!

Look I understand that the United States with its strong economy can elevate their status in any sport because they can afford all the great infrastructure to cultivate said sport.
But some of them cats be saying the shyt as if there is some genetic superiority involved :heh:
Victims of white supremacy buying into their rhetoric. The shyt mostly comes down to having the money and wisely investing in the sport and supporting the players. Cats in small countries aren’t focused on practicing their sport if they have to worry about their family starving and ain’t no big pay day On the horizon

This quote here you said could really depend on the election in February. The one person people really wanted out will not seek re-election in February.

i said this awhile ago and nikkas on here of course laughed and couldn't understand

nikkas here love bragging about how much better athletes football and basketball players are and how big they are and fast and strong and never once think "isn't it weird that's how we judge the worth of mostly black male players that play for the entertainment of mostly white audiences":patrice:

this is why i support any of the skillful black soccer players who challenge the narrative that black athletes are just big and fast
