Usher problem is that he wanted to cater to the youngins with his singles. Should have came out with something adult contemporary and he would have moved more units![]()
Dude has had a good 4-5 album run.
One of the best r&b artists of his generation and one of the biggest selling artists of all time.
Yes he's known as an entertainer, but dude is definitely a good singer.
8701, confessions, and here I stand was "grown folks" music. Not sure what you're talking about.
People really tryna take away from the man's talent and his accomplishments.
This.
It's hard to tell an artist not to experiment with their sound..but that EDM shyt and that terrible ode to strippers or whatever it was was NOT the wave...
This nikka once had R&B in the palm of his hand. He'll always have Confessions. That album is classic no matter what anybody says
This is the problem right here
Chasing hits leads to this. Yeah he was charting high with those corny songs, but so does any and everybody else, and they’re not moving units either. They’re also not Usher. They don’t have the capability of making a truly adult album every few years that appeals to the millions of people who grew up with your music, moving six figure units in his sleep, and touring strong all over.
You think Paul McCartney is looking at the Hot 100 when he releases songs likeI NEED TO LINK UP WITH FETTY WAP
Nah man, you had your run on the charts as the new thing when your generation were the tastemakers. Time to move on.
nah. more like a 3-album run. everything else is him living off of his name & promotion.
my way, 8701 & confessions. everything before & after those albums resulted in both lukewarm reception & disappointing record sales.
8701 & confessions is mainstream music breh. its nothing adult about them chits.
I don't remember which album is "here I stand" specifically but I know it was one of those albums when he was cold & lost his identity. it might've been his failed attempt at getting out of the popcorn lane. but then again, it might've been the album with the sellout EDM joints.
hes a marginal vocalist that puts on a great show and has crossover appeal. that's not bad at all. its good actually. hes just not what yall make him out to be.
I'm not taking away anything from him. some of us just know who he is and who he isn't. I'm not some guy that just likes rap and just dabbles into commercial r&b like the majority of the booth.
Like I said he's had a good 4-5 album run.
Here I stand was an success. Not as much as confessions, but nonetheless a success.
Just because an album is mainstream doesn't mean it can't be considered an a mature album. 8701, confessions, and here I stand had mature content.
You don't have to make d'angelo/maxwell type of music for it to be considered mature.
He's good vocalist. I don't where you getting that marginal stuff from.
I've seen usher sing enough to know that he's good vocalist.
His vocal runs are smooth, he got some power to his voice, and he has a great falsetto.
( it's a good song) and for the most part singers aren't making these lovey dovey tracks anymore. Singers are being purposely vulgar
youre not understanding what I meant about adult music.
hes OKAY vocally. he sings good enough. I can think of tons of better vocalist. it puts him moreso in the marginal boat. that's not a bad thing. hes just not what yall hypin him up to be.
