They got an All Star in KAT for the next 6 years

They got a future all star in Ant for the next 7 years (when he signs his extension)

And an all star in Gobert for the next 2-3 .

Breh I mean this is the core of the Wolves for at least the next 4 years. I don’t think things can change all that much for Minny. Also the firsts are alternating years. We still got some assets.

And for Minnesota's sake, it better work out is all I'm saying especially once Ant's max extension kicks in and reduces flexibility even more. I say that as someone who is/has been high on Gobert compared to a lot of other people on this site.

That's making an assumption that they will be be there and overlooking player movement and how quickly can things change. If you don't believe me, look at all the people on The Coli clamoring for Mitchell to get traded even with him being under contract. Also, KD is likely going to get traded after signing an extension as well. Hell, Gobert just got trading not too long after signing.

Signing a contract doesn't mean you can't and won't get traded for whatever reason as things change.

I think a lot just depends on if Anthony Edwards becomes what he is capable of becoming. if he makes the leap to a legit superstar, a supporting cast of gobert, towns, and Russell easily puts minny in the conversation. all three of them are all star players. no they can't be "favorites" because we haven't even seen them in action yet but there is no reason they can't compete with top teams on paper.

I'm not worried about depth because that comes later. acquiring the top end talent is the hardest thing to do. if it doesn't work at least they tried. that's all fans can ask for

If that’s what you believe and you want to bank on 22 year old Ant Davis to be ready to lead a team to the finals ..hey god bless you ..but considering the fact that Rudy has been effectively played off the floor over the last 2 playoffs this doesn’t seem like the best of bets

It sounds good I til they play the warriors and they just sit on the perimeter.

Part of the reason Rudy was in such a bad position with a shooter at the 5 was because Mitchell and Conley were a lay up line. His coach's strategy was for Rudy to be both a perimeter defender and protect against the paint at the same time. Not even Bill Russell is doing that without looking goofy.

Rudy will be fine in Minne where he won't have to protect as much in the same way especially if they play him and KAT together. Their offense is just gonna be Rudy screening the world for KAT/Edwards/DLo and rolling to the rim.

And they overpayed in the process more than what other teams were going to give up to get him and bid against themselves essentially. They did the exact same thing with the DLo. Again I’m not criticizing the move because I was one of the few people on here defending Gobert when everyone was talking shyt about him out of bias.

They were that without him when : The Pels didn’t have Zion the whole year ,The Clippers were missing both their guys ,and the Lakers were a disaster.

Getting Gobert guarantees then that they’re at least a mid tier playoff team out west and if Kat continues his development and Ant makes that leap to all star/superstar status that everyone think he can be they can be even better .

There’s always injuries and fluctuations in every nba season my nikka …that’s cooked into any evaluation …the fact all you can say about this team after dropping 5 FRP on a 30 year old center is that “this guarantees a mid tier finish” is pretty scary

The center we just drafted was taken at 22. There is nothing unprotected about that. That pick would convey even if it was protected.
