I had a friend do this... He ran out of avenues, and she had a guy. Surprisingly, she still found a way to go, paid for her own airfare and gave the ass up before 24 hours was up. Nothing like a island especially if a woman has never been to make someone look like the "one". End game is she became clingy and he gave her the 
Nah sounds like a lack of options and a little bit of desperation to me. If I had a woman treating me like that, I would have put her in the brushes from jump. If she was worth the effort tho. What kind of vacay is this, (cruise or something) I don't see anything wrong with going (I mean if dude has the means to spend it like that and sees you as cool ppl) then why not go and enjoy life,
He may be one of the few that's tired of doing the regular degular stuff and wanna do something different IDK...no harm in going especially if it's somewhere that you never been and always wanted to go

If you ok with letting him hit go have fun and post pics on the travel thread. If not, at the very least get ur own hotel room, paid for by yourself.
