I hadn’t seen the movie so I don’t a take. People seem to love the director. I may have seen one of his movies.

I think Van is pretty level headed so I wonder if his take is true. When I saw she was in the movie I wondered why. Why not get a real actress? No disrespect to her, she has heat and is doing her thing but why did they cast you over somebody who has been in the game for 10 years+.

I may see it this weekend.
:manny:
Coli movie Brehs is Booogie Nighhts worth a watch? CACs make it seem like it’s one of the greatest 90’s movies.
:dame:
It's Not Unusual for actresses to turn down exploitative roles for example Angela Bassett and Whitney Houston both turned down monsters ball. Somebody who's desperate to get into Hollywood will take it though

Usually if white people love it, it's questionable. It's probably going to do well Oscar season.
Right, it does make fun of the far left and what white people think is the far left of today, so I can see why it is so liked by white people.:mjpls:

I mean, you could peep it from the trailer.
I kinda rolled my eyes during the trailer because it looks like the same agenda the media keeps pushing. :mjpls:
But I'll check for it because PTA is one of my favorite directors.

Paul Thomas Anderson (the director of the film) has been with Maya Rudolph for like 20 years so he at least has a thing for black women. They got kids together :manny: dont know what yall can do that with information but I wasn’t offended by the presentation of that dynamic in the film because it worked with that type of vile character. I believe there’s cacs like that out there

Yea Boogie Nights is legit great imo. Its like a Scorsese film in a lot of ways.

Teyana has actually started to prove she legit as an actress. She did a movie called A Thousand and One that she was great in. She's getting nom praise for this but there are those who think the character itself is problematic.

How? I just saw her in a Tyler Perry movie with Taraji and she was awful:gucci:

Let me guess, she played the role of a loud angry New Yorker in this one:mjlol:?

shyt is the same tired cliche of interracial coupling.

White people really trying to erase Black men so now you see more WM/BF coupling in media.

Even when the director is Black a lot of times they have interracial coupling.
Especially with gay Black characters.

Also the characterization is getting old and really stink of an agenda. Black women are always overly masculine, vulgar, and sexualized. They are always interracially paired. If black men are present they are gay as fukk or some shyt.

Denzel movies are the only thing out that is mainstream that shows healthy black men and black women heterosexual relations.

Nicky Minajs, Cardi B, sexy red types, or some lesbo doechi type is the constant image of black women being pushed. Sadly most black folks just go along with the trends and don’t push back against it.

Or they'll have the Black male character and make him asexual to erase Black men's sexuality entirely. Hollywood keeps boxing both Black women and men into narrow, dehumanizing roles, either hypersexualized or desexualized, but never fully human. It's why I stopped watching most movies/tv shows.
