I support the Nordic Model which is literally working RIGHT NOW. Granted, most people would characterize me as a Social Democrat because of that, but I realize you struggle with nuance. Anyway, here's David Pakman offering a nice in depth explanation of Socialism, different iterations of Socialism and examples where it has worked. If you choose to characterize the Nordic Model policies I support as Socialism, that's fine by me but you can't simultaneously claim that they don't work. They're presently working in nations that top the Happiness Index every year.

Depends who you ask. So yes, oil. But there's also:

• the foreign policy hawks that don't want substantial China/Russia influence here.
  
• the Capitalists who want to expand into that country's markets.
  
• Trumpset who need a distraction from the blunders of their President this past week.
