Why is it delusional? He made it as far as being one of 32 players in the world at his position. So he should be like "oh... I'll stop having expectations now cuz Gil said so."

:childplease:
Why are you taking this out of context?

It's not the greatest example, nor is it even a good example. White folk finding fault in him saying that he 'expects' to be a top 5 qb is more the fact he's wack, than he's black. I'm by no means saying he shouldn't have those expectations, but it's disingenuous to think white folk are shytting on him for having that goal, and putting it down mostly to him being black.

Dog...these guys are world athletes. Why on earth should the confidence that carried them that far suddenly stop?

I'm not saying it should. I never once said that Geno shouldn't think of himself in that light. But from what he's done in the league, you can't justify him being black as the cause for him getting clowned for thinking he expects to be a top 5 QB. You diluted your own argument by even mentioning him. It's like saying regions look down on NO rappers, and trying to find fault in their 'aspirations' of being the best in the technical department and then trotting out Silkk The Shocker as an example.

It's not cause he's from Calliope,...... it's because he's wack.

Funny thing....if Rich posted on this site yall would call him a c00n.

"Cant have two little black girls ignoring the good people of the hood to play tennis...what, they too good to talk to us huh?"

Dude held his daughters down when they were coming up...and knew when to fall back.
Im sure that was hard for him.

How the hell do you expect a 13-14 year old girl especially in a historically white sport to handle a journalist's psychologically trick questions which are used to illicit a certain response at her age?
She was closer to 15 and 14/15 is old enough to handle it imo but it could be different for girls :yeshrug:

She and her sis made it though :blessed:

We need more young black children playing tennis

nikkas here don't seem to remember the racist shyt the Williams sisters had to deal with from 1996 to mid-2000s.
It wasn't just the journalists, but also the players and crowds that hated them (even american ones). After the racist treatment they received at Indian Wells in 2001 (Serena won), they've boycotted that tournament ever since. Even though the WTA made it mandatory
They crushed all the "rivals" that were hyped up by the media over the years (hingis, capriati, davenport, clijters, henin, sharapova, etc).
Seeing true black excellence in a lily white sport has rarely been so satisfying :wow:

Not being a good player doesn't mean one should be stripped of having expectations for themselves
You might be confusing expectations with delusion with that particular example, but the point you were trying to make is right.
