Yesterday exposed a culture rap group versus an artistic rap group

Not an insult, it is what is it. One group is the tsunami that created the wave (Lox) while the other was the surfer group riding it (Dipset)

People thought one was more impressive till they were reminded real power is not always seen and in your face.

It's about time The LOX should be recognized as top 10 NY hip hop group (including Duo's) of all times here's my 10 in no particular order

The Mighty Cold Crush Brothers
Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five
Run DMC
Public Enemy
Wu-Tang Clan
A Tribe Called Quest
EPMD
Mobb Deep
The Lox
The Beastie Boys/De La Soul

I don't know if I ever thought I heard X with much of a southern influence to his sound, but I agree with everything else for sure.

I digress...it wasn't southern influence.

There's a bar Devin the Dude rapped back in like '93. It goes something like: /he got eastcoast swagger, Westcoast dress code, and southern dialect/. Or something like that, think it's on the first Facemob album.

Basically talking about what you started seeing in the mid 90s. Where you couldn't tell where someone was from by just looking at them.

X was NYC but he had a huge side that wasn't NYC, or rather traditional NYC. His flow and vocab was a weird mixture. When I was in NYC..."dog" was not a common adverb.

But that’s my whole point though, if the battle is on some real hip hop shyt, Aaliyah songs and R&B records you wrote for other artists are going to be irrelevant.

If you are arguing she is a better “artist” than that is a different discussion that I have no interest in.

aaliyah ain't hip hop?
mary j blige, ginuwine, jodeci, swv and keisha cole aint hip hop?
are we gonna act like missy doesn't have hip hop records with luda, hov, lil kim, da brat, mary, keisha, timbo, eminem, redman, busta rhymes, 50 cent, method man and others?

you're limiting the conversation to street shyt. missy doing a street records verzuz with jadakiss makes no sense.

That group is garbo. They always received love, but lyrically they are garbo.

When MOP first came out, they were lyrically garbo. They great now, but that first album was not NYC standard as far as bars. I've never heard anyone say what I just said.

They both came out around 95.

Lox just had the bigger push with Bad Boy while Cam was in Children of the Corn.
Jada came out in 94 and in 95 Cam was with an underground group where he had a few versus that barely got play...ITs dif
There needs to be a limit on features

Lox used too many records from other ppl: BIG, Puff, X (at least 3), J-lo, Akon, Jay, Mariah, Nore, Rule

That really ain't fair when Dipset used all of their own music
Two songs with Ma$e too...Cam said it you guys side dishes
