The Sqad stuff was mid. Wayne was getting dog-walked by Skip, and the real Carter 1 got scrapped after they already started promoting it, with a video in rotation.

People like to pretend that Wayne threw Cash money on his back after the hot boys breakup, but in reality, he spent the next 3 years as the big tymers' sidekick.

lol he was still a teenager then, mastering his craft

I don't know why this board loves to do the street vs radio/commercial divide. Its inaccurate, divisive and completely rewriting what actually happened. All them songs CMR played were hot in the streets too. They didn't lose because they were more commercial. Those were hood records that went commercial.

CMR lost because they didn't have songs that got you hyped. They weren't known for that. No Limit had theat militant, march, motivation type music. The sound went hand in hand with being a soldier so when you heard those KLC drums, you knew what time it was. With CMR, the whole vibe is different.

Y’all really think Wayne remembers all them songs? He woulda been up there looking like his daddy

Dude doesn’t remember any song before “John”

Why yall acting like P ain’t just jog in place doing lip sync karaoke over a back track not rapping half his verses to blank stares from the crowd and Wayne and Cash Money literally didn’t just sell out arenas across the country that destroyed the energy and reaction to this janky ass Verzuz several times over :childplease:

Yall throwing all kinda extras on shyt now

I don't think the divide was that much. CMR played some bangers (even if they fukked up playing AMilli before Back That Azz Up).

You saw your situation play out more in the Three 6 Mafia vs Bone matchup. Everybody thought Bone would destroy the 6, but they had Paul and Boo (RIP) ballroom dancing out there to Buddah Lovaz while Three 6 kept their foot on their neck with all the crunk shyt.

What the heck does that have to do with the topic of Old CMR being more currently relevant with the 00’s & 10’s crowd.

List the albums and songs that the 00s and 10's crowd are playing from OLD CMR and where are these songs played?

I'll give you 2: Back that Ass Up * Bling Bling (and bling bling is a stretch)

OLD CMR - 91-95- 1st Gen

OLD CMR - 95 - 2000 2nd Gen

CMR - 2001-2003 (A whole new regime) Boo, Mickey, Mack 10, that chick lady, TQ, (Wayne and Big Tymers)

CMR/YM - 2004 - 2018

Literally most of the songs from Verzuz.

I Need A Hot Girl
Big Ballin
400 Degreez
Slow Motion
Still Fly
Project Chick

Here’s the thing: I actually DJ and go to HBCU/School/Black Youth events. Don’t forget the 00’s/Freaknik party theme was HUGE the past year.

Many songs get passed down in the South.
For example Big Ballin is a Mississippi anthem and forever tied to bands like Jackson State University because that’s their theme song. Every HBCU style band plays it.

Choppa Style is another one of those songs that’s big with cheerleaders.

Thing with NL is alot of their songs (especially in their prime) didn’t last the same way CMR, Boosie, Webbie, etc did. Largely because they didn’t make “party” music and none of their top artists stayed relevant (we know what happened to Mystikal)
