I have so many friends and family that are veterans.. But the crazy thing is because they're Black and Brown I never connect them with "military" in the same vein as these blowhard white males that are screaming at Kap...

I just see them as my peoples..It's just in the past few days I've realized the military isn't the monolith that I've created in my mind...

My Barber is a vet
Both my grandfathers were vets
My Uncle's and cousin is a vet
The n1gga I buy weed from is a vet
Dudes I hoop with are vets
Some bad chicks I smashed are vets
Some legendary emcees are vets

But none of them are c00ns or overtly patriotic so I never really made the connection..


This hash tag had reminded me of what should have always been obvious. "Our military" isn't that small vocal minority of angry racists white folks.. They have just made themselves the mouthpiece...

Have u served in the military? I'll tell you a majority of the guys i served with don't give a shyt about a flag, what we care bout is the brothers and sisters we serve with. Most guys i served with get annoyed having to salute.

Had a Plt Leader fresh out the academy who was like that. My platoon broke him down real quick. Everytime he'd be outside on his phone we'd walk back n forth and salute him non stop. Dude would get mad as hell . That chipper shyt went out the window real quick. One of the coolest LT's i had
