bluray drives are slow(at 6x) and will cause framerate issues i expect the ps4 to do the same thing. its not sufficient reading off that slow shyt that's why the ps3 did mandatory installs. probably will need the disc to avoid piracy thoughThe first question they answer better be whether or not the system can function without a connection. The fact it's mandatory to install games to the HDD leads me to believe that a connection will always have to be on to make sure you're not playing bootlegs.

ps3 games needed an install before functioning. This says you'll be able to play almost instantly.

This really isn't that big of a deal. Before my wii got "changed" I used to have it always connected so it auto updated and the wii remote sensor was always plugged in even if games didn't use motion controls. I think this will be pretty much the same thing. Not every game will use kinect nor require online connection. Also installing games will make them run faster during play than reading a disc. It makes sense
