Bush was hurt when Kanye said he didn't care about black people, where as Trump would retweet it and say “how could I hate black people I hire them to clean my hotels?”. We could see this level of diverse republicab leadership again but not under Trump where black people in leadership positions are judged for their access to opportunity more than their ability.

Also I will say this, it’s a large difference between Colin Powell and Tim Scott and how they interact with white people.

Thats the vibe I got as well. But the idea of actually being nostalgic for the Mitt Romney / Bush era of politics is wild. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t having rose colored glasses in nostalgia.

But even remembering the Chappelle skits, they all seem so light-hearted and funny in comparison to now which just feels dark.
