Ehhh I don’t think so. I always thought there was no chance he was opting out of $46 million at his age until John Hollinger mentioned talk about it a while back.

Phoenix should pay the bread to keep him even if the last year is a wash as they need to keep a winning team around Booker to entice him to stay long term.

The thing is when you get older you can literally go from like 17 and 9 to 7 and 4 next year looking the same with no injuries

True, but hypothetically speaking for a team like Phoenix they have no other choice but to match whatever a team offers CP3. Gotta keep fielding a winning team around Booker to convince him to stay long term. I'd do something like a 2 yr/$70 million deal, but I think that someone adds in the 3rd year to try and pry him away.

With that said, he could totally pull a :flabbynsick: in the playoffs and end up opting into that $46 million after all lol.

Remember with a team like the Suns they have to pay Paul more than he can get on the market. But Paul also may want to find his way to a contending team to wrap his career up. But any given time he can hit that wall

The one aspect that works against CP3 more anybody else in the league is that he's over the NBPA, so technically it wouldn't be good optics to leave money on the table even if it is to go to a winner lol.

exaclty he’s obligated to take top dollar

That's why I feel like they'll come to a number that works even if the last 1-2 years of it is a wash. As long as it gets Booker to sign term, then it'd be worth it.

It's similar to how Minnesota finds themselves in with KAT and how they need to hurry and field a winning team around him. Ant will be nice eventually, but he doesn't necessarily fit their current timeline in being good enough to help him stay.

Miami dodged a huge bullet, what if they had traded one or both of their young cac shooters for him? They’d be fukked for the next couple of seasons.

Miami was perfectly fine with waiting until the offseason to sign them. Vic was the one who tried to force his way there and took the L in the process.
