i get that players sometimes want to "bet on themselves", but i feel like that's unnecessary in the NBA. these guys get offered max or close to max contracts like nothing, especially depending on how the market is in their free agency year...especially when teams need to meet that minimum spend level.

did he turn the Pacers down back then because he was hoping to be All-NBA and get a super max after this season, which is his 8th year and would make him eligible?

hate seeing this happen to guys, and easy to say he should've signed that deal and demand a trade later in hindsight...but damn.

He turned it down as he could have gotten more on the other market than what both Indy/Houston was offering. Exactly like the situation Lavine and Randle will find themselves in this offseason.

Do you take the 4 years that your team can offer you right now or chance it next season and parlay it into a 5 year deal with more bread?

I was confused when I read that quote a few days ago. It makes it sounds like the first doctor fukked up and didn’t do the surgery right. If that’s the case, then Dipo has a lawsuit on his hands.
I hope he does:picard:

Sue for loss potential wages and wont even have to worry about "playing for a contract":takedat:
