There are some games out there that are most unplayable if you pick the wrong build. It's antifun and takes away from the roleplaying experience of you lacl the tools to roleplay. No one wants to start over after 7 hours simply because they picked the wrong combo of ability points. A better way of implementing this is to make respecing cost the player something....time, effort, in game cash, limits....i’m just gonna say it… I dislike ‘Respec’
i know people hate the idea of being locked into bad builds but that should be the motivation for a future playthrough for a game. Otherwise it just makes build choices feel inconsequential. Like if I’m going through a game role playing as a barbarian and all it takes is for me to talk to an npc and become a wizard it just feels like i throwing a large aspect of the meta ‘role playing’ out the window.
I dislike open world games. It's the developers lazy way of filling a game with content, in an otherwise empty game. Holding the forward button for 5 minutes, going from place to place is not game play.
