Nah this is a common take.

Some of mine:

I think the Horizon Zero Dawn games were incredibly boring. They couldn't nab my attention at all.

I find playing a game on a desktop in a computer chair to be a vastly inferior experience to playing on a big screen while sitting on a couch.

The classic SNES and Genesis games have aged like wine, and that's because that's the generation where 2D games were perfected. On the another hand, I think the majority of classics from the N64 and PS1 have aged terribly. That generation was not where 3D gaming was perfected..so there's naturally a lot of junk that makes those games very tough to get through at times today.

Like 90% of 3D platformers in the 32/64 bit era are absolutely unplayable. Imagine booting up Gex, Conkers fur day, jumping flash, etc right now. fukkin awful. And the sports games?? NES literally has more playable sports games that that whole era because of how they aged like you said. Double dribble and NBA jam are playable. Go play NBA in the zone right now. Wtf lmao

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about it, from what I've read they've done a half-assed job of scaling it properly. I do like the merch rollout though.

I liked the first game well enough. When I finally beat Sephiroth :Obama:
I couldn’t get through the opening segment with Roxas in 2 though. That mess puts me to sleep every time

KH is cool, but for me those games aren’t touching the Hall of Fame ‘96 Chicago Bulls level run that Squaresoft had with the SNES and PS1.

Super Mario RPG
Final Fantasy Tactics

Secret of Evermore, Parasite Eve and Xenogears still get love to this day.

While no souls-like clones may have matched FromSoft's full quality of their formula, a few of their clones have turned out to be more enjoyable games IMO than they have recently. Most specifically because of how much better their combat has been surpassed and how tired the dark medieval fantasy theme is becoming. As the most stark example, I enjoy Nioh much more than the souls games just cuz how much crazier their combat is than of From's souls game or even other soulslike even tbh.

But I'm not going to lie, I played Horizon Zero Dawn and played it on the difficulty they added after they launched the shyt. I think it was very hard or something. The lack of resources to upgrade and craft shyt had me banging my head against the wall.

I’d say it’s top 5 at worst when you look at everything it’s given to the games industry. Totally for free. The rise of mainstream crossplay, battle royale / multiplayer iteration, and live service updates. These things were not mainstream concepts before it launched and became successful.

Now have other companies and developers at times taken the wrong things from what Fortnite is doing? Yes. But you can’t deny that as a singular product it’s GTA level of revolution. Without Fortnite the games industry goes a totally different direction.
