So to all the guys who feel it's wrong to trade AP due to salary cap purposes, and to all the guys who thinks AP should retire a Vike due to sentimental reasons, would you prefer the NFL economic machine revert back to the pre-mid 90s days of Plan B free agency and limited movement?
I ask this because I know most guys here are pro-player and believe in the whole "NFL career is mad short, get dat guap when you can" mantra, but true free-agency almost always goes hand in hand with a salary cap (other than MLB, and I dunno if any of us agrees with their economics), so at some point teams always have to make a hard decision with their highest paid players, which tend to also be their best players.
Just saying, you can't have it both ways. Back in the day dudes weren't traded / released for salary at the rate like it is today, and the historic sports figure retiring with the team who drafted him was more of a reality. They also couldn't hold bidding wars with teams for their services either
