I don't think it would be the worst idea.
I have some doubts about Cam Ward. I have a lot of doubts about Shadeur Sanders.

And you'd think Brian Daboll could win with Darnold.
Daboll can't afford to wait for Ward/Sanders to develop. He's already halfway out the door.
Sheeiiit, I’m talking about trading for McCarthy. They kinda wanted him last Draft and to basically have him, Nabers and whoever they select in the top 4-7 this year…it could get them where they want to be.

Darnold is going to sign there or elsewhere for a good amount at this point.

What would a JJ McCarthy trade demand anyway?

Well the Vikings took McCarthy 10th last year.
They're going to want the Giants' 1st rounder this year.

Picks.
If I were the vikings I would talk to the giants and if they are dumb enough to trade for jj, give me your first round pick and 4th for him

JJ coming off an injury, Giants shouldn't entertain right now. I think Vikings are sitting good. Keep JJ around and sign Darnold to a 2-3 year deal. If someone comes in with a crazy contract for him let him walk and continue with original plan of playing JJ.

Trading a 10th overall pick without him even playing 1 game sounds insane.
JJ McCarthy might not amount to anything but I think you'd have to give him a shot.

What I think should happen is that a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers or Miami Dolphins should pursue Darnold aggressively, because they have the talent to put around him to be successful. And he's looking a hell of a lot better right now than Tua or Russell.

Maybe Miami can't make it work financially -- I'm not sure. But outside of Pitt and Miami, what teams could take on Darnold? Every other team has an established starter or they have their QB of the future.

I guess the Jets will have an opening but Darnold's not going there.

:dahell:

You do know tua resigned and has like 150 million guaranteed

Pay Sam, keep JJ. JJ on a rookie deal and can learn from sitting another full season. Don't have to rush him on the field.

This.

Keep JJ just in case. Look at what happened to the Dolphins, Giants, Jaguars, and Browns after giving big contracts to their QB.

The NFL is all about "right now". If Darnold wins a playoff game or two he's not going anywhere.

He not winning shyt. Vikings will lose their first game.

Oh so you're just talking to talk

got it.

If the Vikings lose their first playoff game and Sam throws 3 picks they probably let him walk and turn to JJ. They can't offer Darnold a prove it deal because another team will throw a bag at him. I doubt he wants to leave and go to a Justin Jefferson-less team. He just needs to play decent enough even in a loss and they'll resign him and move JJ. The team is in contention so they can't reset that by waiting for JJ to develop. The window might close.

Sam's not a 34 year old QB so if they resign him it's going to be for enough years where it makes no sense keeping JJ when you can land picks to improve the team.

Mara got his wish with the Giants beating the Colts. They're out on landing Shedeur or Ward so they can go get their white QB by offering Minny a decent haul.

I'd send him to the AFC though.
You were right. Should’ve placed a bet, breh

Sam Darnold making ass decisions is about as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning
