The wrestling crowd was mostly smark when I was at Halloween havoc 1995. It was 95% smark when I was at WWF house show night before Montreal when they chanted you sold out to Bret. 99% smark when I was at wrestlemania 23 in 2007. Imagine what it will be when I'm at Raw next Monday?
WWE chooses to write good guy vs bad guy stories. If your fans will not like someone regardless of what you do, it's common sense. Why fight your fans?
But you smarks liked him when he was in the trendy stable and out of the solo indy darlings' way (Bryan, Punk)...... but he's a problem as a solo face because he's in one of your indy guys' spot. That's all this is about.
And people won't magically like Reigns or give him heat as a heel. They'll be mostly indifferent to him as he gets lost in the fodder through random feuds I.E. Sheamus.

The only way this thing with Reigns will work is if he does what he should have done with him the first time. Have him come back on a humble tip and have to work his way back to the top. Don't put him in the main event scene (which they will) right off top and let him cook in the mid card for a while. He can battle someone like Del Rio a returning Orton (if he's heel) for a few months where he actually loses a feud or two for once. But after struggling for a while he build some momentum culminating with a US or IC title run for a few months where he takes on all challengers. Then hopefully the fans are behind him and he can be built up into the challenger for against the now how many month champion Ambrose or Rollins. He doesn't win it but a bond begins to develop between the 3 again. They finally properly reunite for a few weeks or months leading to a match against the Club or the Wyatts. During the match he turns on Ambrose or Reigns before the match even starts and leaves them to get beaten down by their opponents. Then he goes on Raw the next night and explain that the Shield cant be united unless it's him holding the title and then they go from their. He's a mega heel that quick though (but still with the potential to go face when he does reunite again with them down the line) and it changes the dynamics up a bit. But if Vince is just going to bring him back and let him run over the likes of Owens and AJ again and thinks that is building him up then he will be sadly mistaken again when the boos come out for Reigns.

Forced redemption stories are corny in sports, so imagine on the nose, unimaginative color by numbers ass WWE trying to do one. Reigns shows glimmers of light whenever he shows a smug a$$hole side. After he won the strap and said "I'm not a good guy, I'm not a bad guy, I'm THE guy" I was like
Then a week later JBL and Cole had already run it into the ground "THERE HE IS MAGGLE. THAT'S THE GUY!" ... "HE IS THE GUY, JBL!"
They have no idea how to just chill on stuff. I promise they're going to try to have Roman do some forced promo where he literally asks for their forgiveness with his eyes glistening. Then of course Stephanie comes out with her jaw clenched and chin poked out forcing fake anger for no fukking reason and blah blah blah.
They're not going to feel sorry for him in the
generation, man. Let him come out every week with the belt telling the crowd they can boo and say what they want, but if anyone of these fatass geeks came in the ring he'd whoop that ass. I like when Reigns is being an a$$hole(which is basically never), he seems much better at it than this underdog ass nikka they make him play. If Reigns would've delivered the promo Rollins did when he came back, right after Mania, I'd have stood and applauded.

Personally, I don't think heel will change anything because the smarks have made it clear that they will dislike him no matter what you give them. I remember when they did try something new with Roman and people cried foul and said, "This isn't genuine!"

Depends on how they handle it, if he came out in all black screaming in kids faces, ripping up cancer signs, saying make a wish is for pussies and that the crowd are all fat virgins who jerk off over his girlfriend; beats the smark favourites again and again and talks about it in promos saying he's burying people and loves it, maybe beats shyt out of Taker/Rock/HBK/Jim Ross other legends, maybe even let him attack Renee or Jojo backstage or something.... I'd say he becomes most hated wrestler on roster I get what you mean, but if they went the full 9 yards with it a heel turn would work
